While Louisiana prepares for Hurricane Gustav, Dems gloat and guffaw

First, please read this e-mail from michellemalkin.com reader/commenter CantCureStupid, who is a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard. She asks for your thoughts and prayers as the people of his state ready for the storm:

Hi Michelle.

I’m a new member to the site and a big fan, and right now I’m experiencing a brief (and rare) moment of downtime. I am a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard, and we are up to our nostrils in preparations for Hurricane Gustav. There is a lot going on right now in south Louisiana, but mostly we are watching this monster bear down on us and hoping for the best. I wanted you to know, as a soldier who also had to suffer through the cluster that was Katrina, that we are 1000% better prepared (God Bless Bobby Jindal!!), and that while hoping for the best, we are completely prepared for the worst and ready to do what needs to be done to ensure the safety of the people of this state.

I am sure, as a fan of your site, that the vast majority of your fantastic commenters are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers. Most of us are very aware of how sick the rest of the nation must be to hear the namby-pamby cry baby stuff that still comes out of the New Orleans area three years after Katrina, but I would ask for prayer and support for my soldiers, who have nothing to do with politics and who show up and serve whenever called upon.

God Bless America and God Bless Louisiana!!!

New Orleans is under mandatory evacuation orders this morning. Here’s a disaster preparedness round-up from Glenn Reynolds. And Weather Nerd and hurricane blogger Brendan Loy is tracking the latest developments.

Per Gov. Bobby Jindal’s order at 4am this morning: “As directed by Governor Jindal, Louisiana State Police will initiate contraflow at 4:00 AM Sunday morning. For the first time in history, the entire Louisiana coastal population will be evacuated due to the impending threat of Hurricane Gustav.”

We know who won’t be praying for their success and safety: tolerant, peaceful liberals wishing the worst on Republicans in Gustav’s path and laughing about the possibility of grave destruction.

Exhibit A: Michael Moore (via Allah).

Exhibit B: Former DNC chair Don Fowler (via redstate diarist Absentee, who caught Fowler and Democrat Rep. John Spratt’s candid, malicious comments on a plane from Denver to Charlotte. Transcript via Ed Morrissey.

The hurricane’s going to hit New Orleans about the time they start. [Chuckle] The timing is — at least it appears now that it’ll be there Monday. That just demonstrates that God’s on our side. [Laughter] … Everything’s cool. God is not on your side, gloating sleazeballs.

Our Louisiana Army National Guard’s screen name says it all: Can’t Cure Stupid.

How to help with Gustav preparation and recovery efforts.

Yes, God bless them. For Katrina they protected, fed and aided us/ Three years later they will do the same. We felt a ton of reliel when we saw those helecopters the first time. This time Bobby Jindal is in charge and they are here already.

Good thing for Louisanna they have Jindal now.

You ao sooooo right. I wish the rest of the US could hear him as he prepares us for Gustav. Awesome! He is calm, decisive and all in all doing a steller job. We will keep him for a while then let America share him as president!

Bitsy-Good luck. Based on your post you may be in harm’s way.

Hopefully no one will shoot at the helicopters and rescuers like after Katrina.

the vastly improved preparation under Bobby Jindal,

I watched this AM as Jindal gave the preparations over TV. Mich Landreu, Lt. Gov. and brother to rat senator Mary Landrieu was mesmorized - couldn’t take his eyes off Bobby. I’m thinking he was saying to himself, you know, when I grow up I want to be just like Bobby Jindal :) We are so fortunate to have such a man as governer.

I hope Michelle lets this dedicated soldier know that we are all hoping and praying that there will be no injuries or deaths from Gustav.

This has to be a very frightening time for children and the elderly and the sick, being rushed out of their homes again, and I hope this will be done as gently as possible.

Thank God for Governor Jindal’s leadership and for the very professional, dedicated people who are running this rescue effort.

Prayers that they will all be safe and able to return to their homes before too long, and especially that the levees will hold!

I suppose we should pray too for these very sick people who are so totally wrapped up in themselves they have no room for any humanity whatsoever.

Michael Moore: “Gustav is proof that there is a God in Heaven”

Yes, Mike, there is a God in Heaven and he will be judging you one day - be prepared for the worst!

Again, I say...do these idiots think that the storm is going to stop the GOP from nominating McCain/Palin?

Maybe they're going to switch the "it's Bush's fault" mantra to John and Sarah.

Maybe they're just brazenly ignorant and highly immature and this is just their versio of "nah nah nah nah nahhhh nah".

This storm WOULD have cause the Dems havoc at their convention, as it was all based on show and theatrics...as is the usual case with democrats, no actual SUBSTANCE was allowed in the lineup.

Remember, if their TRUTH would help them, they would use it.

Some Democrats can't help but get caught up in the political opportunities they see in destruction and death.

See “Wellstone Memorial” for an example of how well this works for them.

Well, just got electricity back from Gustav. Raked havoc in LA but didn't hurt Metairie, LA outside NOLA very much - at least not as much as we're used to. Bobby Jendal was amazing! Heard Vice President knocked it out of the ball park at the convention. We are trying to find out how we can hear the speech. We're looking at Ike now so it's not over yet. But the Dems didn't have the laugh they thought they would have!!!!!

Moore: Gustav hitting the coast on the 1st day of the GOP convention proves there is a God.

Me: Does that mean you don't believe that Rove causes hurricanes any more?
