Texas stops supervising more FLDS children
KSL News ^ | August 29, 2008 | KSL News

(KSL News) Texas child welfare officials have dropped supervision of an additional 54 children from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS).

That brings the number of FLDS children no longer being monitored by the state to more than 250, according to the Deseret News.

All of the children have been removed from state supervision because welfare workers feel they are not in danger of abuse.

They all are among the more than 460 taken off the FLDS compound in April, only to be returned six weeks later when a judge ruled Texas officials had overstepped their bounds.

I see.

So it’s not good enough that the children in danger are being separated from the children who are not, and that those children no longer require the expenses the state would have to pay for, to supervise them needlessly.

You just want someone to ‘pay’ for it.

Well, every time more children are released like this, you say the same thing. Let the lawsuits begin.

Wonder if you’ll ever be right?

Always said this was a hit on Romney and his Religion even though this group was not affiliated with the Mormons of Utah.

You think that the parents and FLDS in general shouldn't sue over this massive intrusion in their lives and on their constitutional rights?

I'm not generally of a suing mentality, but I'd sue in a heartbeat, to stop this from happening to anyone else if for nothing else.

I think lawsuits are coming too.

Yes the FLDS people should sue...and make it painful.

There was no need to take all those children. If there truly was abuse..deal with those who are abused.

This raid was pretty much state-sponsored child abuse...sad this is from state w a GOP governor...but alas, unfortunately “GOP” and “conservative” are not the same thing anymore.

“but I’d sue in a heartbeat, to stop this from happening to anyone else if for nothing else.”

Stop what from happening?

The original reason for the ‘raid’, or the final act where the CPS took all the children until they could figure out who was who, and who was in danger?

“I think lawsuits are coming too.”

So what is the key to their decision to file a lawsuit?

Will it come after all the children are returned to their ‘parents’?

Will it come after all the children are removed from supervision?

Will it come after the prosecution trials of the men so far indicted?

Agreed......... Hopefully the courts become involved with all those charged with abuse and neglect. Get those parents and the ones in charge that were abusing the children. Also maybe civil lawsuits should be initiated against those that did the abusing and maybe they should pay for all the disruption, children being torn away from their mothers at gunpoint, tanks roaming around the ranch, etc. Surely they have scarred their own members to no end. After all the ranch is a valuable piece of property right in the middle of a NAFTA highway. Thus they commerical opps should be bountiful.

In the end nothing good will have been accomplished unless CPS is abolished.

What are some quality (and hopefully tax deductible) organizations seeking to do just that?

I don’t know if there are any. Most everyone who knows anything about CPS is afraid of them.

To stop the overwhelming power of the State from ripping any more children from their parents based on a hoax hearsay!

CPS is going to lose this BIGTIME, for the simple fact that they were WRONG! Their actions were unreasonable, immoral, unconstitutional and unAmerican and they're going to lose a bundle to the people that they sought to persecute and prosecute.

It'll come when the FLDS lawyers have all their ducks in a row. Yeah, they've indicted some ham sandwiches. They HAD to. The political pressure was too strong even for CPS to ignore.

There was no way after that idiotic raid that there WOULDN'T be indictments. I knew then that the State HAD to find something to take the pressure off.

I'm waiting for convictions. THAT will tell the tale.

In the meantime, there WILL be lawsuits when the FLDS are all but guaranteed a win.

Your tagline:

“Don’t blame me - I voted for Fred and am STILL a FredHead and will write him in!”

What would you have given to see a Thompson/Palin ticket?

Thanks for post #4. Just think. If you were an adult woman held against your will for two months, what would you do? Also if you were an adult woman giving birth while TX CPS was watching and waiting to snatch your baby as it exits the birth canal, what would you do. You better believe I would sue the pants off of someone!!

Furthermore, if someone took away my children, and later it was determined that I was completely innocent of abuse charges, would I sue? What do you think?

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
