Doomed to defeat
The Washington Times ^ | August 31, 2008 | Jeffrey Kuhner

-- snip --

Mr. Obama is doomed to defeat. His best efforts to camouflage his left-wing associations will not work. He can flip-flop on issue after issue in the vain hope he will deceive Americans. Yet he is clearly a liar and a phony, a false messiah. He will not lead the Democrats - or the country - to the Promised Land: He has no credibility.

Mr. McCain will win - and win big - in November.

then all you’ll get is NOTHING. No palin for anything and you’ll just have Barack Hugo Obama and Joe Mugabiden.

I respect her much more than the appeasing democrat in republican’s cothing sap she is running with, so it is my right to sound off that I support her and not him. So, sorry, that’s where the vote will probably go.

Mr. Obama is doomed to defeat.
This is the most powerful statement I've seen about the possibility that McCain will win the election.
The article does not speak of the "possibility" that McCain will win the election. It flatly states that McCain will win the election.

Right now it feels like there is a possibility - nay, a probability, based on the polls and on the betting odds - that Obama will win. On November 5 (presumably - there's always the example of FL 2000) that probability will collapse to zero or will explode to 100%. One or the other.

If you know that Obama will not win, you have already bet the farm against people who think that he will win. If you haven't done that, you don't know that Obama will lose.

And if in fact Obama does win, you not only will lose your bet, America will lose big time, and you with it. The fact that we would lose so much if Obama won may have motivated some people to hedge against that possibility by betting that Obama will in fact win. Thereby increasing the betting odds that Obama will win.

In reality a bet against Obama is a bet against the ability of Big Journalism to con the American people into voting for him. The fact that Big Journalism is a monopoly (due to the Associated Press, found by SCOTUS to be a monopoly in 1945) allows Big Journalism to promote its own interests in the guise of "objectively" promoting the public interest. And the interest of Big Journalism is in public regard for Big Journalism. Since the "capitalist system" and not Big Journalism provides us with our necessities, the interest of Big Journalism is to criticize, condemn, and complain about the capitalist system. The positive labels ("progressive," "liberal) assigned to socialists in America by Big Journalism are simply the symptom of the fact that socialists promote the same things that Big Journalism promotes.

Writing Palin in as president as opposed to voting for the McCain/Palin ticket will only help ensure that she never has the opportunity to be president. Obama will win, the Dems will secure a stranglehold on the White House for years to come and the Palin choice will come to be seen as a blunder, destroying her chances to run for national office again. This will also ensure that the Republicans only stick with conventional candidates going forward.

So like the other poster here said, writing in Palin as opposed to voting the McCalin/Palin ticket is a very dumb idea.

Great! Thanks for your input.

Irritating, isn't it?

We dont have to worry about Obama, right, because of the McAmnesty landslide that is predicted in GOP circles. Since it is not a squeaker, we can vote our conscience it seems.

You can vote however you want. However, if you choose to write in Palin as opposed to voting the McCain/Palin ticket, you will hurt Palin and help Obama. But if that’s what you want to do, then go for it (and you might want to let Obama/Biden know what you’re doing so they can send you a thank you note).

The silence regarding Palin from most of the Republican Senators is interesting too. The gang of 10, Graham, Chambliss, Dole and the rest of the spinelessones have just been sent to the sidelines.Rod,

They are scared $h!+less...

Palin is something that the beltway does not want. It hit me wathcing Gurgren, and Carville on Larry King the other night. These people need to get a job serving sandwiches near a plant in the Midwest and get the hell out of the beltway, they are so out of touch.

But back to why they do not want her.

Like our founding fathers she is a citizen Legislator. She is not a 6 term Senator who has never balanced a budget. My guess is she will be given the task of cutting Gov't spending in a McCain Admin. These guys are going to have to work for a living for a change instead of bloviating, and make hard choices.

Better yet, these weasels should all resign and get a new slate that will fix SSI, Medicade etc.

Pelosi and Reid most probably prefer him to lose, as they will retain their control and power without having to be accountable for it.

Well, in all fariness, with a 9% approval rating, I don't believe Obama would want Pelosi or Reid to speak out for him. She'd only drag him down further.

Oh, BTW: Here's the latest rankings on her book:

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #17,551 in Books

That's a sales ranking only slightly below those "fake logs" they sell to help ignite fires...

“McCain deserves nothing from me.”

Even though he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

“Thanks for choosing Sarah, John. Now I’m going to make a self-aggrandizing, stupid, infantile political statement that slightly lowers her chances of ever being elected. I hate RINOs so much I’m going to screw Sarah, too, even though I love her!”

I wish people could just grow the @#$% up, but that’s too much to ask.

Much more fun to be braying jackass.

TC,

Yes he will win, but our Senatorial and Congressional leadership is to stupid to figure out how to get on their coattails and take back the House and Senate. But I digress....

This is all anecdotal, but it is what I am seeing. I haven't put a number to it, I need to do some more research. but here are the stories:

My wife's Jewish relatives in the Northern Chicago Burbs, 2 out or 4 and maybe 3 out of 4 were for McCain before Sarah hit the stage. This is in Barry's own backyard, and should be a slam dunk voting block for the Dems.

My buddies mom, a retired School Teacher, Democrat, was going to vote for Hillary, doesn't trust Barry and is a Catholic prototypical Reagan Democrat, will vote for McCain

A liberal 60's antiwar activist I know, pulling the lever for the 1st time in the "R" column for McCain. As a former mental health professional, it scares him that Obama has an identity crisis and doesn't know who he is.

The bottom line TC is this....

Obama can't close the deal.

We can't sit on our laurels, but IMHO it will be a McCain/Palin victory with percentages that will shock the elites.

Bookmarked!

I am certain Obama will be a failure - I just hope that that failure comes BEFORE the election, not after.

I still remember the Carter years, vividly.

You tout your principles but your logic is very faulty.

If you write in Palin for President, you are in fact, voting against her chances in 2012 or 2016.

A write in vote for Palin is a vote for osamaobama, which is your right, however misguided.

AOL Straw poll shows McCain winning all 50 states

AOL has a left-of-center customer base. Late Friday afternoon with over 350,000 responses, the poll had McCain-Palin at 63% and growing, with the electoral votes from all 50 states, and with Obama winning only DC.

75% of the U.S. population will either loathe him or ignore him.

The same can be said of McCain.

Amen! That person might as well write in "Mr. Bill" for all the good it would do.
