Zogby: Palin Gives McCain Big Boost (McCain/Palin: 47% - Obama/Biden 45%)

Republican John McCain's surprise announcement Friday of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate - some 16 hours after Democrat Barack Obama's historic speech accepting his party’s presidential nomination - has possibly stunted any Obama convention bump, the latest Zogby Interactive flash poll of the race shows.

The latest nationwide survey, begun Friday afternoon after the McCain announcement of Palin as running mate and completed mid-afternoon today, shows McCain/Palin at 47%, compared to 45% support for Obama/Biden.

In other words, the race is a dead heat.

The interactive online Zogby survey shows that both Obama and McCain have solidified the support among their own parties - Obama won 86% support of Democrats and McCain 89% of Republicans in a two-way head-to-head poll question not including the running mates. When Biden and Palin are added to the mix, Obama's Democratic support remains at 86%, while McCain's increases to 92%.

After the McCain "Veep" announcement on Friday, Palin was almost immediately hailed as a strong conservative, and those voters have rallied to the GOP ticket, the survey shows. Republicans gather in St. Paul, Minnesota this week to officially nominate McCain and Palin as their presidential ticket.

Overall, 52% said the selection of Palin as the GOP vice presidential nominee helps the Republican ticket, compared to 29% who said it hurt. Another 10% said it made no difference, while 10% were unsure. Among independent voters, 52% said it helps, while 26% said it would hurt. Among women, 48% said it would help, while 29% said it would hurt the GOP ticket. Among Republicans, the choice was a big hit - as 87% said it would help, and just 3% said it would hurt.

To: rewrite

Which has nothing to do with the supposed Bradley Effect.

In my town dems working for the Supervisor Of Elections run computer lists of registered voters who do not usually vote and pass them to the local Dem party headquarters.

Then the dems submit bogus absentee ballots for those names and they do it as soon as extended voting opens up so that their vote is the one that is registered.

If the real voter tries to vote after that they are not allowed to place a real, binding vote, no matter what kind of ID or documentation they offer.
If they push the issue they are allowed to submit a Provisional vote and told it may or may not be accepted after an investigation on the double vote is conducted.

But the investigation rarely, if ever, seems to take place.

We stumbled on this scam in the 2000 election when I convinced my sister-in-law to vote after many years of sitting on the sidelines.
At the polling place she was not allowed to vote because an absentee ballot had already been submitted in her name.
She explained that she had not submitted a previous ballot but it did no good.
I called the county Republican party and they sent someone to the polling place to document the fraud.
Only then did the Supervisor of Elections permit a Provisional Ballot to be cast but they clerks were very surly and rude about it.
The woman more or less in charge was highly P.O.’d when they had to permit the Provisional vote and the challenge to the bogus ballot.

The person the Republican party sent to help us out clued me in on the scam.

My sister-in-law later asked to see the absentee ballot that had been submitted in her name but was told she had no authority to see the document!
She filed a complaint with the state but never heard from anyone.

Just think how many votes they steal nationwide in every election with scams like this.

We can now officially apply the dead-cat-bounce on wet cement label to obama’s convention bounce.

more appropriate....

> GOP is already talking about postponing the convention because of that LITTLE RAIN

Won’t happen. They have too many payments committed to those dates, to say nothing of the delegates flight tickets for this week.

Now, I could believe that they could have so thematic revisions to the agenda, to tone down on the celbratory aspects.

I thought that the name of the book was "They can't win if they don't cheat". Oh well, I'll send the image, just substitute my title, which is the true anyway. Rat media flogging their guy counts as cheating.
