Obama and Clinton together for Tubbs Jones-(Campaign at funeral)
The Columbus Dispatch ^ | August 30, 2008 | Mark Niquette

Obama embraced Sen. Clinton after her remarks, and although it was a funeral service, he was greeted with a rousing ovation from the crowd.

“Now that she’s left us, we’ve all got to pick up some slack,” Obama said. “We’ve all got some unfinished business to attend to: The business of shaking things up, and asking hard questions, and insisting on the hard truths. The business of embracing those who struggle and making their struggles our own. The business of refusing to settle for anything less than what’s right and what’s fair and what’s just.”

Former congressman and civil-rights leader Lou Stokes, who held the 11th District Office before Tubbs Jones, drew another ovation when he said Obama’s nomination “provided me and many in this nation the opportunity to see something that we thought we would never in our lifetimes see.”

There also was a cheer when Cuyahoga County Commission Jimmy Dimora told Obama from the stage, “Take it to the bank: These people want change.”

I never heard of Ms. Tubb-Jones. After googling her, I think I can see why. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/21/washington/21jones.html

They put this woman on ice for two weeks so her funeral wouldn’t disrupt the convention and so Obama and Hillary could have a photo op. Tubbs kid was sitting next to Bill during Hill’s speech and they introduced him.

Most everyone in Cleveland believes the back-stage finagling of Tubbs-Jones death had to do with the politicizing of it. If you recall, she was announced dead around noon by her DC office, that was retracted, and they she was “removed from life support” after 6:00 p.m. She probably was dead, but the details hadn’t been worked out/agreed to regarding the Wellstone Memorial Plan(tm).

She was my congress rep. for a year until I moved from Ohio. I never voted for her, obviously.

Yeah; GET A JOB AND STOP TAKING OTHERS' INCOME to hand out to deadbeats and freeloaders!

This guy will lead the "reparations" effort as soon as he sits in the King's chair....no doubt about it.

I just wish ONE person in the debate moderator position would ask him "what's your position on Reparations?"....He'd crap his pants!

I thought the same thing when Hillary made that “fair weather friend” remark. Obama is descending into a passive-aggressive Hades of astounding proportions.
