Brash McCain pick of AK Gov. Palin neutralizes historic Obama speech, stunts the Dems' convention bounce
UTICA, New York - Republican John McCain's surprise announcement Friday of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate - some 16 hours after Democrat Barack Obama's historic speech accepting his partys presidential nomination - has possibly stunted any Obama convention bump, the latest Zogby Interactive flash poll of the race shows.

“The latest nationwide survey, begun Friday afternoon after the McCain announcement of Palin as running mate and completed mid-afternoon today, shows McCain/Palin at 47%, compared to 45% support for Obama/Biden.”

Historic speech....oh, puke.
Pollster John Zogby: “Palin is not to be underestimated. Her real strength is that she is authentic, a real mom, an outdoors person, a small town mayor (hey, she has dealt with a small town city council - that alone could be preparation for staring down Vladimir Putin, right?). She is also a reformer.”
Really means Mc/P is ahead by 10. Zogby is in the bag for the dems anyway..
Beat you by FOUR seconds!
You read it here first, folks.
Barracudamentum!!!
LOL, funny, but probably true.
Why is Zogby so concerned about what people in Indianapolis think? Is everyone in Indianapolis neither Democrat nor Republican?
Funny — when Obama is ahead by a couple of points, they are reporting he is ahead, instead of the race being within the margin or error. When McCain is ahead by two points, it’s “equilibrium”.
But it’s real great news anyway — McCain/Palin just erased Obama’s 8 point advantage.
Tim Gilbert(of Gilbert, AZ) says it’s very possible.
Zogby’s assistants must have taken a wrong sauce!
From reading the other thread about the Gallup poll, some poster made me understand that it was a 3 day rolling average. Thursday was a huge bump for Obama, estimated at around 54 to 36 for McCain. Tomorrow that # rolls off so if Gallup isn’t screwing around that 8 point lead could be cut to 4 or less.
this was the posters estimates
Thu Aug 28: 54 - 36 Obama
Fri Aug 29: 47 - 42 Obama
Sat Aug 30: 47 - 44 Obama
good news
who had the most accurate poll in 2004?
I mean 54 to 36 for Obama
Zogby has Bob Barr winning 5% of the vote. I think that’s very generous—that would be more than ten times the percentage Ralph Nader got in 2004. In 2004 all the third party candidates together polled slightly less than 1% of the popular vote.
GREAT news!
I got the Zogby survey 4 hours ago and just filled it out, so Zogby hasn’t gotten all the results, yet.
It was all about Palin!
