If there is any reasonable chance that a strong hurricane is going to hit the U.S. it would be politically damaging to proceed.
Better than that silly telethon idea.
The MSM can rerun the Obamagasm convention.
I live on the MS gulf coast, I could care less if they hold the event or not (with good reason). Speaking of a National Disater, check the border chock full of human biological weapons entering the USA every day.
Which is worse, a hurricane or millions of illegals infesting America ?
(Some of those illegals speak Arabic and want us dead.)
If the RNC is clever, they can use this to their advantage.
Why not send all the delegates et al down to NOLA to help out? Skip all the unimportant speeches and do the nomination vote from ground zero in NOLA. Mac and Palin can do speeches from there.
What a contrast. The Dems have an American Idol convention and the Republicans have a “working” convention, actually helping those in need, while the Dems only talk about it.
I totally agree.
In the event of a bad hurricane, press coverage of the convention would be less, and the dems, along with their friends in the media will raise hell about republicans partying in St. Paul, while people are suffering from a storm.
I thought the republican convention was too close to the dem convention anyway. Postpone it, and have it in a couple of weeks. They will get a little larger, and more meaningful bounce.
The danger of the hurricane to McCain is not so much where it hits but when it hits. Certainly, there should be concern for everyone.
However, a big hurricane blowing in is just the reason the network media would use as an excuse NOT to cover the Republican Convention.
McCain is very wise.
Uh oh !!! Micheal Moore’s belief in god is fading .
Postponing would be great !!! This could give Gov. Palin another week in the news, and totally shut out O-man.
Turn it into a Convention/Hurrican Telethon. I’m sure Palin could handle the MC duties as a former broadcaster. It would be a 9th inning, game-winning, grand slam.
I have a problem with postponing the event. A lot of people planned their schedules around next week.
