FFL Member Nominated for Vice President of the United States

Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, has been selected by Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain as his running mate.

According to The Anchorage Daily News published August 6, 2006, "Palin said last month that no woman should have to choose between her career, education and her child." The article went onto say that "she's a member of a pro-woman but anti-abortion group called Feminists for Life."

"I believe in the strength and the power of women, and the potential of every human life,' she said."

Feminists for Life's policy is that all memberships are confidential. However, since Governor Palin has been public about her membership, we can confirm that Palin became a member in 2006.

Earlier this week Feminists for Life reacted to the inclusion of woman-centered solutions in the Democratic Party platform, and the inclusion of FFL's trademarked message, "Women deserve better® than abortion,©" in the Republican Party platform.

FFL President Serrin Foster said "It is unprecedented to see the platforms of both major U.S. political parties incorporate key pieces of FFL's unique message."

"Of course there is a certain excitement about the recent movement toward FFL's woman-centered solutions and message by the parties, and now the selection of a pro-life feminist as the Vice Presidential nominee. But as a nonpartisan organization, we cannot endorse any candidates," Foster said.

“FFL members represent a broad political as well as religious spectrum, and we remain both nonpartisan and nonsectarian. There are many issues outside Feminists for Life’s mission. Feminists for Life is dedicated to systematically eliminating the root causes that drive women to abortion—primarily lack of practical resources and support—through holistic, woman-centered solutions. We recognize that abortion is a reflection that our society has failed to meet the needs of women and that too often women have settled for less. Women deserve better than abortion,” said Foster.

As each party takes steps to acknowledge and meet the needs of women, Feminists for Life is prepared to work with our elected leaders on behalf of girls and women who deserve far better than abortion. FFL has a long track record of working with both sides of the political aisle on major legislation such as the Violence Against Women Act, Child Support Enforcement Act, and much more. Many members of Congress have already stepped forward to cosponsor the FFL-inspired bill with bipartisan support, the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Pregnant and Parenting Student Services Act.

"We invite all parties, all public servants, and all people to join us on the bridge of woman-centered solutions," Foster said.

Leaders of Feminists for Life and leaders in some Catholic universities have generally blamed men for abortions. But it's no surprise to some honest historians. That kind of propaganda started with Susan B. and her herd during the 1800s.

And BTW...no vote here. I'm a "male" (as most often described by man-haters) with a healthy family and am mostly concerned with our neglected defense.

"You prefer women barefoot, pregnant, and cookin’ in the kitchen for her brood, right?"

Who said anything about preferring hillbillies? ;-)

“No vote” meaning you're not going to vote for McCain, or that you are going to vote for McCain but Palin has nothing to do with your choice to vote for McCain?

BTW, anti-feminists often make the correct argument that one of the unintended consequences of radical abortion is that it enables men to perpetuate their adolescent sexuality, to avoid having to take on responsibility when a woman becomes pregnant. As a pro-life man, I happen to agree with that assessment and believe that a man shouldn't have sexual relations with a woman unless he is willing to be a father to the child and raise it.

There’s a certain troll running around here trying to say that Feminists for Life is made up of feminazis.

Why do you say that? Is Palin a hardcore feminist? Or is the group Feminists for Life a staunch feminist group that happens to be pro life?

They are Pro-life and firmly against abortion as is Palin herself, which she proved beyond all doubt by refusing to abort her downs syndrome child. They are not a "hard core feminist group". They are a feminist group that believes in family, not killing babies, etc. They are a great group and other republican women belong to this group as well. They can't endorse any political party but they sure as he** don't embrace the dimwits pro-choice platform.

This has all been explained and pointed out on the internet over the last two days. Go to their site and read and see what you think.

This group stands firm against such groups as Planned Parent hood and the like.

The Vice President Lives in the Grey House AKA the Admirals House, not the Blair House, I believe. Navy Personnel are the cooks and servants.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

Blair house is the official state guest house for the President of the United States.

Number One Observatory Circle is the residence of the Vice President.

A feminist who doesn’t kill the unborn is still a feminist.

The Republican Party, once again, advances liberalism more than any democrat has ever done.

She is raising five children and active in public affairs.

That is pretty incredible if you ask me.

Pro Life, Pro NRA, Against wasteful spending
Pro drill, Pro Anwar...

She is quite a woman. A conservative woman.

Thanks. I'm familiar with the group. I just wasn't sure why the other Freeper made the comments she did, and I wondered if there was something I didn't know about her or FFL.

So you think women should be barefoot and pregnant.

Some women are strong enough to do both or cycle work with raising families.

I respect your values but that would require never having any women politicians, doctors, attorneys, engineers etc.

Feminism comes in many forms, not all of them are bad. Sarah Palin’s feminism is good. You have a convoluted way of thinking if you believe that all feminism is liberalism. That is like saying a man who is proud to be a man and acts like on e is a liberal. Sarah Palin is no liberal. Think how you want and vote how you feel you must. I for one will tune negative people such as you out. Have a good day.

“PALIN ADMITS HER 17-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IS PREGNANT”

I told you so.

So? It means nothing to me that her daughter is pregnant, lots of 17 year olds are pregnant in this country right now. This is life, it happens, with five kids you are bound to get one, or maybe two, that do something stupid. Kids do what they want, especially when it comes to sex. I don't believe my argument with you was over pregnancy but some other stupidity you displayed that escapes me right now. This will absolutely not hurt Sarah. It will work against Obama, who says he daughters shouldn't be punished with a baby if they happen to get pregnant out of wedlock, or even in it. Sarah's daughter is choosing to keep her child and evidently doesn't feel "punished" by it.

As I said to you before, don't like Palin? Don't vote for McCain. I, however, intend to vote for both of them and what her daughter does effects me not in the least.

My former governor (the brother of our current President) has a daughter who was/is a drug addict and a son who stalked his ex-girlfriend. Didn’t stop him from being the greatest governor in Florida history.

You didn’t tell me anything, but good luck with your ongoing campaign of being smug and self-righteous. Let me know how that works out for you.
