Stay Classy Daily Kos: Accusations Palin 'Faked Her Pregnancy' of Down's Syndrome baby

Taking a look at the stories in the Old Media will show that the Media is turning attack dog ASAP on McCain's choice for vice president, Sarah Palin. Notice the main meme is her supposed "inexperience." Funny how Palin was the VP pick for about 15 seconds before the Old Media went after her "inexperience" while they have yet to hit Barry Obama on HIS inexperience at all and he's been running for president since 2004. We should also note that Palin didn't get the honeymoon that Biden got when his announcement was made. But, the worst is yet to come and the Daily Kos is doing its level best to mine the lowest of lows. In a Kos diary today, it is being alleged that Sarah Palin "faked" the pregnancy of her last child, a baby born with Down's Syndrome. The claim is that it was her teenaged daughter's child, not hers. And, true to form, the Kossacks took that absurd calumny and hate even further in the comments.

You can have all kinds of faith but sometimes things happen that hurt

Why because we feel it's unfair? If it's all God's doing, how can it be unfair?

I sure don’t like YOUR idea of God...

My God is merciful and loving. My God is Life and Life doesn't kill. My God guides people to life, to repentance, to forigeveness. My God doesn't order massacres and genocides.

You are not the only who hates my God.

I just read an article that says she was NOT a member but her husband was for two years. Careful how you judge, Kosta, for YOU will be judged

while you are judging me...does it get any more hypicrital?

Okay, so her family was associated with a secessionists, anti-American Alaskan Independence Party. How patriotic of them. Happy now?

The article states that it was a mistake. She was NOT a member. Read it for yourself, it’s on FR. I just respond to your negative posts. You need to look in the mirror now and then, kosta.

God is also a just God. Yes, He is merciful and loving, but He will reap justice on those who spit in His face, and He always has. I don’t hate your God, just some of your comments.

I’m not saying anything about it being unfair. I’m just saying things happen that hurt us.

Let me preface this by saying that I do indeed find your posts regarding Orthodoxy and religious philosophy interesting and well thought out, but you're posts contra Sarah Palin truly baffle me.

Kosta, you are the FIRST to question the source material for anything, yet you brazenly took the New York Times for their word regarding Palin's supposed membership in the AIP, even though this was easily debunked through a demonstration of her voter registration.

And the video link you posted was merely a welcoming statement made by her to the AIP which is pretty standard fare for governors, mayors, etc. to do when conventions come to their locale. When the GOP convention was here in Philly many moons ago, the democratic mayor of the city gave the opening address even though he bears no philosophical resemblance to a Republican.

Finally, it would be wrong for Palin to go on TV to address the AIP issue as you suggest, since it would then force her to address every single ridiculous accusation made against her in a similar fashion. There is no reason for televised statements when the objective facts speak for themselves, and here the objective facts indicate that she was never a member of their party. End of story.

That still makes her family associated with secessionists. How patriotic is that?

My God is not offended by sinful humans. He wants to save them. He doesn't return evil for evil. He picks ups the sinnera and gives them a chance to repent. If they do, they are doing his will; if they don't they condemn themselves.

Look, if God is behind all this, then everything that happens is from Him. Why does it hurt unless we feel it's unfair. Does God owe you anything? Unfairness is blame. Those who truly believe thank God for everything, the good and the bad. Otherwise you are judging God.

I have to admit — as a single mother of four adopted siblings — I was sad to hear that Gov. Palin accepted the VP nomination for our party. I love her politics and probably agree on most of her beliefs and policies. However, as a mother of five — one infant severely special needs — and a teenage pregnant daughter — her children desperately need her to be AT HOME with them, focusing on their needs — being available to sacrifice for THEM as mother’s do and should do every day. When she gave birth to this latest baby, I expected to hear that she had resigned to take care of him full time. Now she is taking on the 2nd biggest job in our nation. As a mother, I don’t think that is the kind of role model I want to set up before my children as something I want them to follow.

It has zero to do with her politics (I applaud her professional accomplishments) — it’s simply that I see how much her children and family need her NOW to be there for them. I am her age — 44 — and I gave up a thriving career to adopt these four who no one else wanted. I hate that I am single doing so, because I believe so strongly in marriage, but I know God called me and prepared me to do exactly what I am doing.

I wish Gov. Palin could see the same worth and value that God has placed before her now. Doesn’t mean I won’t vote for her, but I will do so with a heavy heart, for sure.

Thank you very much for your kind words.

The NYT quoted the secretary of the AIP, along with her name. What was there to doubt? As it turns out she may have been mistaken by the fact that Sarah's husband, Todd, was a member of the secessionist party of Alaska not once but twice.

Whatever the truth is, it's not a compliment for a potential Nation's Second or even First Family, to be associated with a politcial party that hates the country they represent, especially because the Republicans tend to think of themselves as much more patriotic than others.

One does not have to de-register in order to sympathize and mingle with other groups. Senator Lieberman is still officially a registered Democrat, yet he is actively campaigning for a Republican!

And the video link you posted was merely a welcoming statement made by her to the AIP which is pretty standard fare for governors, mayors, etc.

It's a secessionist Party with an anti-American platform! Its leader says "I'm not American. I'm Alaskan." You find nothing wrong with them being welcomed by a Republican an governor? I do. It's like welcoming a Communist Party congress in Anchorage.

My opposition to Sarah Palin is not because she is a woman. It is because I question her judgment as I question McCain's judgment. I don't really have much of a choice in this matter because I am also a card-carrying Republican and have been all my adult life and voting for the other Party is not an option.

Unfortunately, the Republican party has morphed into somehting unrecognizable. Today everyone from Laura Bush to Joe Lieberman mentioned how qualified Sarah Palin is . Yet less then three weeks ago, Karl Rove appeared on CBS's "Face the Nation"and said the following:

I mean the Republicans really know how to shoot themselves in the foot. Kaine has more experience as a governor than Palin and her city ranks about 15,000th!

All of a sudden that's "good enough." I am sorry, the GOP has lost all its talent.

You seem a little tense...

Sarah Palin; even with all of her warts, still has ‘the right stuff’.

Relax- the choice has been made. Either give McCain your vote, or give Obama your vote. Or sit the election out.

They always let people go because of party affiliation. It’s what happens when parties change. Not doing so immediately was a mistake on the Bush administration’s part. They were entirely too nice.

But...it wasn’t just because of party affiliation that they were let go. It was because they weren’t following the instructions of supervisors on how to conduct their jobs. Don’t think that government lawyers are put there to be loose cannons prosecuting whom they will. They are under the supervision of a department.

We all have relatives who are in political positions that change when newly elected officials move into their new offices. It’s the way it is. It’s the way it should be. One shouldn’t have to worry about colleagues or employees working at cross purposes with an agenda they have won a political campaign to implement.

makes her family associated

First, I've not even seen proof of that. Let's say, however, that you're an Alaskan with native blood in you. Let's say that you were part of a state that, in comparison, entered the union only recently.

Then let's say that the federal government had seized millions of acres of the state and prevented their development. Let's say that the fed had become bigger than its britches throughout your state and was holding it down.

I can see how such a secessionist movement could get off the ground.

I can also see it as a throwback to the time when folks' loyalties also included their state. After all, each of us is a state in our own right. We are united STATES.

I can understand such movements existing in both Alaska and Hawaii -- and they do.

God Bless you, dear lady. I know you would never say it, but what you have done is a fine example of what Orthodoxy calls “dying to the self”. What an example you are to those very lucky children of yours and the people around you!

This Utopian world that you seek, do you give no mercy, and ask for none?

Good luck with the tar baby you've created for yourself. I hope you find peace.

Thank you, kind sir, for your comments. When I first had the children placed with me for adoption (as a single never married Christian brand new mother), people kept using the word “noble” to describe what I was doing to keep them together and be a focused, full-time mother to them (giving up career, freedom, etc.) I found that offensive and weird, actually — since never once did I embark down this road of adopting siblings with any thought that I am rescuing them or “doing them a favor”. God called me to this life — as I believe He calls EVERY mother who has children — to offer up our lives as a sacrifice as a mother naturally does to those whom God has entrusted to her care. It is my “reasonable act of worship” as Romans 12:1-2 states, so how can it be some noble, grandeous thing?

I feel the same way about this with Gov. Palin. She has FIVE CHILDREN — a severely handicapped infant, and a teenage pregnant daughter, and other children who need to cope with all that these issues mean to a family. Again — frankly I assumed she would resign her Governorship when the baby came along with Downs as he did. I am disappointed she does not recognize her highest calling.

Trust me — days like today — when I can hardly rub two nickels together for anything beyond food, shelter and clothing for me and for my children, it doesn’t feel so noble. Yet I know that God is faithful, and HE knows my heart and motives more than anyone. My children’s lives have been redeemed — just as Gov. Palin’s need to be — to have their Momma step up — and step DOWN — to lead and guide them through the only childhood they will ever have.

Blessings from CA....

First, I've not even seen proof of that

The chairwoman of the AIP now says she made a mistake about Sara Palin's membership (blaming the wrong information on an unnamed co-worker), but maintains that her husband, Todd, has been a registered AIP member until 2002.

She also maintains that Sarah Palin attended the pro-secessionist party congress in 1994 and 2006. I will sit back on this one, this time, but if it turns out to be true then the Republicans will have made a historic move indeed, picking a VP who has flirted with secessionists. I wouldn't wnat to be remembered for that.
