Whitewater - Freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater have always spent their first few days on campus learning college survival - how to join the karate club, cheer like a Warhawk and find English 101.
But this year’s orientation added a grim new lesson: how to take out a campus shooter with a book or a backpack.
The school is one of about 500 around the country that have purchased “Shots Fired on Campus,” a new video training program with tactics for surviving a mass-casualty shooting. Oh, NO! They are teaching our children violence! No, they should be studying peace. Peace and love will be the way to stop campus shootings. Oh, I am sitting here weeping on my keyboard. I feel like smashing this Spivey guy with a 2 x 4!
All the talk about "improvised weapons" might come in handy, but to me it reminds me more of the Monty Python sketch where the defense instructor was trying to show his crew how to defend against attacks from fresh fruit.
Tip 13:
Destroy any all all “NO GUN” signs you can find.
It’s one thing if the school admin insists that
the staff and student body be defenseless.
It’s criminal to advertise it.
I have a confession to make. I am an admitted felon. That’s right, an honest to goodness, FELON. For years I worked in D.C. For years I carried a nice little 9mm on my person, and in my vehicle. Never went to work without it.
They can pass any law they want, post any sign they want, and cry like little girls (no offense to the girls) about the risk of law abiding, honest, citizens having nasty weapons. I really didn’t, and certainly don’t, care. My safety was my responsibility, not theirs. I knew the risks of being caught, and the cost to me if I was. Didn’t care. Not their call, it was mine.
Just pull out your Kimber Ultra Carry .45 and put two into center mass and one between the perps running lights.
I wouldnt bring a knife to a gunfight, let alone a bookbag.
It’s not a grim new lesson.
