McCain VP nominee has GA connections By AOPA ePublishing staff

Sen. John McCain’s surprise choice of running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, has a positive association with general aviation.

Considering that GA is the primary form of long-distance transportation in the forty-ninth state, it’s not surprising that Gov. Palin has taken a stand on the user fee issue. In May 2007, she signed a resolution in opposition to the FAA’s plan to increase avgas taxes, impose user fees, and slash airport funding. AOPA and the Alaska Airmen’s Association had worked together to move the resolution through the Alaska legislature.

There is a family connection as well. Palin’s husband, Todd, is an AOPA member and Super Cub owner.

The hit just keep on coming...she’s quite an American Woman.

Perhaps some of these “lost” young females buying into liberal drivel can find a role model in Sarah Palin.

I look forward to seeing Maggie O’Connell (Janine Turner) campaigning in support of McCain-Palin. Maggie is one of my favorite TV characters of all time from “Northern Exposure”. On the show she was a country club liberal, but in real life she is a staunch conservative. I think she’d make a great campaigner for this ticket!

I should have noted that Maggie was a bush pilot from Alaska in Northern Exposure for those of you who never saw the show (you missed a classic).

GA really needs a lift. Especially on fuel prices. Drill, drill, drill.

I’ve been to Juneau in the summer. The airstrip is next to the bay/harbor. Almost all the aircraft there have a set of floats for winter operations. I expect that snow removal on the airstrip is a problem. The harbor doesn’t freeze, I guess.

Sarah is a feminist in the real sense.

She excels as a woman, not as a fake man.

She hunts and fishes.

She did well in beauty pageants.

She has been elected to successively higher offices culminating in governor.

She is a mom of 5 - even giving brith while governor.

She is a pilot.

She is a devoted wife to a blue-collar meat-and-potatoes man.

She has wrestled with corrupt government and party officials.

She is proudly pro-life.

She is grand example of feminine genius - who rejects the pantsuited NAG version of feminazism.

On a slighty similar subject, I read or heard somewhere that an alternative to long range radar for collision avoidance was being tested in Alaska. Anyone heard anything about that?

YA-BA-DA-BA-DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Palin is a pro-private pilot, pro-life, pro-family, pro-moose hunting, pro-drilling, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative knockout. (knockout pun intended)

The hit just keep on coming...she’s quite an American Woman.

Make that "quite the self-reliant, strong, Conservative American Woman.

She's tough as nails, a fighter. I pity Biden having to face her in the VP debate.

You just know that smarmy bastard will get flippant at some point and Palin will hand him his head on a platter.

I hope she eats his lunch.
