Palin forces Clinton voters to choose between "pro-women" and "pro-abortion" (Opinion/Vanity)

This is not just a great victory for the pro-life movement because a pro-life female will be campaigning as VP for the first time. It also is the cause of an even greater victory - forcing the pro-abortion culture prevalent among Democrats to choose between being "for women" and being "pro-abortion.

It was well-documented that Clinton's supporters among women have threatened to vote for McCain as a protest vote instead of backing Obama. Now, the deck is stacked even more towards that end. For the first time as a political voting bloc, female pro-abort voters will be FORCED TO CHOOSE WITH REALITY - either be pro-women, or be pro-abortion. Perhaps, some may actually change and accept that the two poles are mutually exclusive. And if that happens, then eventually you have a rift in Clinton's bloc of core supporters. A rift today causes a position change tommorrow!

All politicians however powerful are still accountable to their constituencies, and not even Hillary would be able to hold back the tidal wave of change that would sweep her base. One of the most, if not THE most, pro-abort leaders in our recent history would be forced to back-pedal.

NOW gang will still support Obama because he has done more for women than Palin.
Also, her becoming VP is just a ploy to destroy feminism so they have to vote for Obama ,FOR women’s futures!

I lifted this straight off the hillaryclintonforum site (bold mine):

I posted my feelings about the choice issue a couple of times yesterday.Roe V. Wade has stood up under many more years of Republican Administrations than Democrat. With FREE birth control readily available, abortions are not as common and rates have dropped over the last 10yrs.This is no longer going to to be a main issue to get my vote.Planned Parenthood and the DNC no longer hold my vote hostage! There is too much at stake this year to worry about something that is not going to color my life and the safety of our country.

For me personally, this is the most exciting day in American politics since I began paying attention back in 1963! It is not just his choice. It is the timing, the secrecy, and on. This speaks volumes about how McCain will deal with Putin, China, etc.

I like McCain’s choice of Palin for VP.

However, I do not believe this will result in any significant percentage of Hillary voters flocking to the McCain ticket. Hillary voters are Hillary voters because of the positions (feminism, abortion, group identity politics, speech codes, multiculturalism, marxism, relativism, etc.) and Palin represents the antithesis of all those positions.

Actually I heard earlier today that abortion is only an issue for about 3% of voters and if Obama and Biden make a big deal out of it they both can be clobbered by Obama’s infanticide votes.

You're absolutely correct. They did as much when Bildo Klintoon was President. They didn't care about his past assaults, they didn't care about his current assaults, and they didn't care about his affair with a subordinate (powerful man-subordinate, oh isn't that a big no-no?). The only thing all they cared about was his firm support for abortion and for providing that, the NOW gang was his biggest backers and to hell with their sisters. I have no doubt they'll do the same for Obama who is equally firm in his support of abortion including killing babies who slip by the abortionist's grasp.

ploy to destroy feminism

Feminism is NOT just about pro-choice abortion.

Feminism like the Civil Rights Movement is suppose to be about o.p.p.o.r.t.u.n.i.t.y. for minorities and women.

Unfortunately, opportunitity was changed to mean entitlement.

Martin Luther King was NOT asking for entitlements. He was asking for opportunities that should have been a given for minorities. All men/women are created equally... That is in the Constitution... King was pointing that out.

He never asked for affirmative action which assisted minorities and women... and in many cases put same ahead of men who were more qualified.

But we have learned from this experience. We've learned that there are many minorities and women who are smarter and more capable than s.o.m.e. White men.

I believe that Sarah Palin is one of those women. She's smart and she's qualified. She's been a doer all her life. And, I hope my sisters in this world recognize that and vote McCain/Palin in November.

I don't think Republicans really have to worry about the presidency now. I think McCain could have beat Obama with a man.

This actually helps Republicans far into the future. The only thing Republicans have to worry about now is contribute to Conservative congressmen and women to reign in McCain when he goes astray.

A woman at church has an obama bumper sticker. But it’s because she’s a guilty white boomer. I bet her head is going to explode on this one.

Of course. The "NOW Gang" is a small minority of women dedicated to leftwing political agenda and who couldn't give a sh*t less about women in general. They exist to protect abortion, first last and foremost. Everything else is optional.

But the vast majority of women do not identify with these creepy females, and will be very interested in Sarah Palin.

Reading that earlier DU thread and all the dem women wanting to vote for McCain because of Palin, it tells me they are more interested in being able to vote for ANY woman, regardless of her positions on any issues. They just want to be able to vote for a woman. They all got (politically) screwed again and the guy got the nomination, they wanted to vote for a woman. With Palin they still can.

It’ll be great to get the votes, it will probably make a difference in close areas, but it also does tell you about the shallowness of the liberal women in their decision-making capabilities as to who to vote for. (ie none of the idealogy matters, if you have breasts we will vote for you).

Yes they are shallow thinking voters! When I worked I was appalled to hear some vet candidates not by their accomplishments but by which one they would rather sleep with!
