Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney - considered a leading contender for John McCains running mate - praised the Arizona senators surprise pick today, saying Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins story is inspiring.
Governor Palins story is one that all Americans will find inspiring, Romney said in a statement issued earlier today.
Shes a Washington outsider with a commitment to the conservative principles that will make our nation stronger. I look forward to campaigning for Senator McCain, Governor Palin and Republicans all across the country, Romney said.

I have always believed that Romney is a true blue (red, white & blue) American and a patriot and wants what is best for America and Americans.
I campaigned for Romney and was praying for him to be VP, but I am thrilled with Palin. After her speech today, I was truly inspired and felt hope for America for the first time in a long time.
The fact that she gave birth to her Down Syndrome baby and is raising the child is such a plus for me.
Romney is first class all the way and I am sure he will seek to serve this country in the best way possible. He is a godly man and I'm sure he is content with God's will for his life.

I was going to use the word "class' but you stole my thunder, RG! : )
Mitt is full of character, class and grace. AND he's a team player. He said exactly the right thing. It must be difficult for him, because he knows if McCain wins, it means he will most likely never be president, because it will be Palin in 2012. She'll then be up for the challenge and can win it. But as we all know, Mitt truly puts his country before himself. Tears.
I do think he will get an excellent cabinet appointment and we will all have to be happy with that. : )

It’s so easy to be gracious when you get your way, isn’t RG? It’s a lot harder when you don’t.

I don’t know that it was God’s choice for Mitt. It’s more the way the cards have fallen.

1) Romney as Secretary of Treasury
2) Petreaus as Secretary of Defense
3) John Bolton Secretary of State
4) Guiliani to Homeland Security
5) Lieberman for NSA ?
Wow! Perfect.
Fred Thompson as Press Secretary?

Now that’s funny.
FreeRepublic is a loud, obnoxious, messy, confusing, argumentive pile of keyboard pounding radicals who often think they are much smarter than anyone else.
It’s also better informed than ABCNBCCBSPBSNYTDNCBBCMSNBCCNNFOXWSJAPREUTERS could ever dream of being.

Guiliani as Attorney General and Fred Thompson for Homeland Security? I’d bring Rummy back as Defense just to pick on reporters.

That would truly be a dream cabinet. Shall we send it to McCain’s people? Several times?

Compare this class act to the poison arrows shot by Mike Huckabee towards Mitt Romney in recent days.

I am a Mitt SUPPORTER. I am and never have been a BOT for any politician, even Reagan, whom I adored (and is my number two all-time hero), well before he was elected the first time. There isn’t a person in the world I agree with about everything. Not one.

I love Mitt but I think Sarah Palin is the right ticket and I bet Mitt also thinks that too.
It is about filling a need, and I am sure Mitts gifts will be best used elsewhere.

Frankly, it would be a tragedy, RG. Mitt Romney is one of the most talented men and the most sucessful man, to ever run for the presidency.

It's diverteach's list, I just added Thompson.
Definitely worth passing along.
It would drive the media/libs nuts, but the people would love it!

You are probably right, as much as it pains me to think or say it. Palin is probably the right and wisest choice, at this time, for various reasons. McCain has shown good judgment.
