Stalwart online supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton -- are fired up this morning by the announcement that Sen. John McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.
The common refrain: "Obama will regret not choosing Hillary now!"
Taylor Marsh, a Las Vegas blogger who developed a large following of Clintonites during the primary, wrote this morning that: "This is a move to peel off disaffected HRC voters. I guess McCain thinks they're stupid and willing to vote for any woman. Rabidly pro life, an NRA member, she's not exactly a champion of women's civil rights. We'll have to see where she stands on health care and equal pay. But one thing this does is keep Hillary Clinton in the forefront throughout the general election. We'll be hearing the phrase 'Hillary Clinton voters' until November."
A post on Tennessee Guerrilla Women, a blog run by Hillary supporters in the state, said the Palin pick will cause large numbers of women to "once again tune into politics. And karma will once again prove to be a total [pain] for Barack Obama and the party elders of the undemocratic Democratic Party!
"Barack Obama should have begged Hillary Rodham Clinton to be on his Democratic ticket. John McCain may well be about to bring that chilling fact home to Barack Obama."

Geena Davis...yeah, perhaps a little look-alike factor.
And if I recall, Ms. Davis, who herself had children naturally in her 40s, said something to the effect of "if the Republicans want to have a female in the White House, let them pick their own candidate"...or something like that.
Well. Ms. Davis...I think the announcement of Ms. Palin this morning got more ratings than your show did...

1. First, Palin is qualified. She’s signed more bills, lobbied more legislators, and dealt with more issues (local, state, and international) that Obama ever has.
2. Palin is an INDEPENDENT Female candidate. That means that she doesn’t get forced into a man’s mold of what a female candidate should be; she doesn’t get forced into a conservative mold or a liberal mold; nor does she get forced into an old-guard feminist mold either. It seems all of those groups were trying to force women into a man’s business suit. She is the best of what independence means: she is free to be real. She’s a mom and an executive; an independent woman and a pro-life advocate; a beautiful lady and a backwoods pathfinder.
This is what American women will choose. They’re not getting forced into anyone’s mold about what freedom and female means.
And republicanism has always stood for independent individualism.
Doh! Kearns = Karns. Why doesn’t spellcheck recognize the name of such a stalwarty FReeper?
PERFECT, LOL!
rofl! Nice touch!
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. The only thing the democrats have given to women is to show their value in leadership is to make sure they don’t breed. Especially what is so heart rendering is the black women have been led to believe that the democrats are their party for them. They have 14 million dead African American children because of abortion and now we have their candidate, black and militantly pro-choice. Martin Luther King’s niece is out there now fighting against abortion. She herself had an abortion and has seen the light through the darkness of the evil of abortion. Women are strong and have always been about love and nurturing their children and bring to it the future of this country which is children. Not militant nazi-fems who relish abortion and hate men and have been leading men around by their noses in the democratic party for years now. Now we have a strong woman, mother of five,pro-life to show the women of this country the truth in the strength of women in true leadership role of this country.
Anyone who thinks that Palin was picked to get the Hillary vote is a fool. Palin was selected to get the conservative base up and working, as well as contributing, to the ticket.
Retouching? You made me look again. All I saw was Sara and a motorcycle. ;-)
Sarah, that is...
One thing to keep in mind is the only way GWB won last time was by getting the grass roots fired up and getting every possible GOP voter to the polls. That level of passion just wasn't there for McCain -- at least not until today.
I have this picture in my mind where Obama and a staffer recreate a scene from "Jaws":
Obama is sitting in his office. Unknown to him, McCain has just announced that Sarah Pail is his running mate. A staffer has just witnessed the announcement on TV from another room. He walks in with a terrified look on his face and says to Obama: "You're gonna need a bigger bus!"
