Editorial: Senator Obama’s Acceptance Speech, Well Delivered but Short of the Mark
Catholic Online ^ | 8/28/08 | Deacon Keith Fournier

Senator Barack Obama displays that “surprising contradiction”. He leaves an entire class of persons out of his vision for America, our littlest neighbors, the girls and boys living in the first home of the whole human race. He supports an approach to those whom Mother Teresa lovingly called the “poorest of the poor” which betrays his claims of concern. His policy is to place the Police Power of the State behind protecting the right of people to reach into that first home, the sanctuary of life, and kill them, for any reason and without any consequence. Oh, I know, people like Doug Kmiec and those who have been persuaded by the masterful oratory of this candidate, will once again accuse me of being “single issue” oriented. They will say that, after all, he mentioned Abortion in this speech. He did, in this one line, “We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country.” First of all, what does that even mean? And, more to the point, he has made his unequivocal support of keeping abortion unrestricted very clear. He has promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act as soon as he is in office. So much for solidarity.

What was woefully absent from Senator Obama’s rhetoric was the first right, the right to life. Without that right, the entire structure of human rights is placed at risk. Children in the owmb are also our neighbors.

I can't vote for someone who thinks infanticide is good thing!

Yeah but just think of those 85,000 wild-eyed, happy campers going home tonight with their free gift certificate for 75 carbon credits and one free sheet of toilet paper. Poor speech or not, most of them will say it was worth the trip.

Doug Kmiec is an extreme leftist who has lost touch with reality.

Martin Luther King did not need rock stars and fireworks to leave his legacy. Obama is NO MLK. He is no more than a cinder in the ashy heap of history. Obum is an empty suit with the forked tongue of the devil himself, dare I say of a false profit. He is a Marxist, who went to a Marxist so called “Christian” church who damned America and who’s very mission, (so called, “black liberation theology” DENIES THE DIVINITY OF CHRIST. The event was so much bigger than the candidate that it will leave but a sooty residue in the minds of even the most devout Obamatrons. The bad news is that the republicans are so ineffectual and so afraid of not being polite that they are likely to sabotage the gift that the democrats have given them. A soulless, empty windbag, who loathes 50% of his genetic makeup. Some might argue his better half, at very least the half that didn’t run out on him. Gutter politics from the OLD party of lowest common denominators. God save America.

ONe of my rules to live by: When someone says, as Obama did, that they believe abortions should be safe, legal, and rare, they’re telling the truth only for the first 2 of those 3 conditions.

It is simple, everyone is making it too complicated. The Obama candidacy and the present democratic party, are simply going to implode into a bottomless pit under the weight of their own pomposity. These people are just insufferable boors.

No they are not - they are "punishments"!

To a Dem, they’re not neighbors if they can’t vote.

Of course it was well delivered. The One’s only real skill is delivering a speech that someone else wrote...

Watched the speech. Their motto: “Yes we can!”

My bumper sticker: “No, you can't”

It's all about a perfect world at this convention, after a litany of doom, gloom, tears, and people and their misery. No hint on how all those wonderful things that we would all like to have come about will be achieved or funded.

We would all like world peace, to have cheap energy with our own resources, an excellent education system, clean environment, economical health care available for everyone, affordable housing for every American, good jobs for all those able to work, protected borders, and have the whole world think we are swell.

I still say, “No, we can't.” That's a nice goal, but a fairy tale.

Obama put abortion, guns, and homosexuals in exactly the same paragraph. It was his “bitter” paragraph.

This was Howard Dean’s “god, guns and ‘gays’” condescention.

The delegates gave the biggest cheer at the homosexual marriage section.

The text of Obama’s speech is avalable online. It is founded in anger and condescention of AMERICAN values. Obama sells the same TIRED OLD tax and spend.

Obama has the same TIRED OLD disgust for the US military

Obama has the same TIRED OLD hatred of Mr. and Mrs America.

Yesterday, obama said he was staging this thing to seperate himself from teh politics of race and class, he not only failed he embrace the failure by going head first into symbolism over substance.

back to Jimmy Carter.

The convention had a talking point of mentioning they “honor McCain’s service”. This is the same honor the soldier but spit on the USA.

Carter is saying McCain is overhyping his military service.

McCain is no Kerry.

Obama is no boy scout. (communist pioneer scout perhaps)

Very interesting remarks. One thing about Obama, we have to admit, he sounds good, but what is he really saying? What is he really advocating? Similar to what one could say about the Devil. Sure sounds good, at face value, until you look a little deeper. When you look a little deeper he is talking about undoing capitalism by income redistribution and by destroying the successful Oil Companies who are our life-blood. Yet he is also claiming to be for the common man while advocating the killing of babies who survive abortion. It’s pretty scary. He advocates the destruction of our way of life, and somehow makes it sound good. By the way, I agree with Michael Savage, he asked the question, “who is behind Obama?” Indicating people like Soros. Well, regarding that, I think this whole Obama thing with him accepting the nomination on the 45th anniversary of “I have a Dream” was planned a few years in advance. Obama didn’t just come out of nowhere, the Marxists finally found a really good Trojan Horse. It’s so tempting to just make everything ok, it’s so emotional to nominate a first black President, but who is behind it? That’s the question that responsible people have to ask. Responsible people who haven’t been brainwashed. But not everyone is like you and me. Some, often too many, get swept away by emotions and never ask those questions. Like what occasionally happens in countries like Germany and Russia.

Carter has nothing good to show for his term of office. Matter of fact, everything he did equates to a negative. Now his ideas are really socialistic and he deserves nothing but disdain for his comments.
