Barry's Delusions Of Grandeur (Don't You Know Who I Am? I'm The Messiah, Damnit, Alert)
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | 8/28/2008 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 08/28/2008 3:16:42 PM PDT by goldstategop

RUSH: This show tonight at Invesco Field at Mile High, and everybody's been trying to figure out what the set is that they've built. It's either a Greek temple or they're trying to replicate the surroundings of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Whatever it is, I read something at the American Thinker website today. After reading it, I happened to see the best shot of this set that I have seen yet. Apparently, The Messiah, after leaving the convention last night, went over to Invesco Field to do sort of a walk-through and familiarize himself with the surroundings -- and I saw video of that this morning. Now, let's keep in mind that the Democrats have all of Hollywood in the bag. That means they've got theatrical experts, lighting experts, set experts, all these things.

People have been speculating that Obama is going to look dwarfed by the size of all this tonight, and the American Spectator article says: No, no, no. It's going to be just the opposite. He's going to look bigger than everything else you see on your TV tonight because of where they're going to position him in relationship to that set and those columns. He is going to look to dwarf them, not that they and that set is dwarfing him. It's all about perspective. I'll lay ten to one that the American Spectator article is right about this. Remember, Clintons had Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason. Obama's got Geffen, any number of people he could want to actually set this thing up, people that know how to make things look artificial. The eye can lie to you. Your brain can lie to you about things.

So what do we have here? We have a man going out for the so-called biggest speech of his life tonight who needs his own version of a presidential seal instead of the American flag on his airplane, an airline seat with "president" written on it. He has 300 foreign policy advisors -- and for his convention speech, a football stadium equipped with a movie set that looks like a Greek temple. He claims to be the one that "we have been waiting for," and he can lower the seas and promise and deliver universal love simply by showing up. But Biden said last night, "If the universal love doesn't happen, I know that Obama will be tough." We don't know any such thing, you fool! These are issues of judgment here in the case of Obama, mixed up, confused judgments, judgments about himself. Barack Obama has "misoverestimated" himself.

He got a one-point bounce so far in Rasmussen. Pelosi's running around saying, "Don't worry! Don't worry! Don't worry! These polls are underestimating Obama." No, the polls are overestimating Obama, just as he is overestimating himself. But all this should be no surprise. The man led a fairly confused early life, ladies and gentlemen: a father with four wives, multiple moves in and out of the country, heavy exposure to the Muslim faith as an impressionable boy, anti-American values all around him when he's growing up. That led him to a life of confused decisions. Look at the people he formed close relationships with. Frank Davis: member, Communist Party USA. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko. He even has respect for Calypso Louie Farrakhan! The people he's hung around have big problems with this country. They do not like it.

Barack Obama, giving him the benefit of the doubt, is confused. He's written two autobiographies by age 47, having not done diddly-squat -- except learn how to be a thug in Chicago. He's written two autobiographies in an attempt to work through his circumstances and his judgments. What has complicated his mental journey are his political ambitions, his desire to hold high public office has required this confused man to lie about his sometimes bizarre judgments, such as supporting infanticide; to lie about his associations with well-known anti-Americans. He has never demonstrated greatness, nor has he produced anything tangible. He simply surrounds himself with the illusion of accomplishment, and it is such an illusion that Michael Dukakis last night on Hannity & Colmes, when asked to list achievements, stuttered. "Uh, it doesn't matter! Well, he's a great state senator." There is no resume there. He "hopes" for greatness. He wishes -- and, I don't know, might even pray -- for greatness. Obama's thinkers have helped create for him an image of success because Obama does not have a track record of accomplishments. All he can rely on is an image of success. Obama thinks accomplishment is a job title. Look at what he has not done while a senator. Karl Rove has a great piece today at the Weekly Standard decimating every listed achievement of Obama's by Biden in his speech last night. All of it BS. Not one thing that Biden credited Obama for doing did Obama do. He can't even hold a simple committee meeting in his subcommittee chairmanship role.

Presidential trappings, Greek gods or whatever the hell it is, is called wish fulfillment, ladies and gentlemen, delusions of grandeur. These grandiose dreams for himself are presumptuous. He has not earned nor accomplished anything that would entitle him to the august office of the presidency of the most powerful country on earth. Running for president was poor judgment, given the personal and professional life that he has had. It's really quite remarkable. He may be more screwed up than Bill Clinton, way down deep. Barack Obama: a man who has lived the life of a wonderful fall.

(playing of Obama spoof song)

RUSH: White comedian Paul Shanklin and a cover takeoff old Sam Cooke tune. I'm debating here, ladies and gentlemen, whether I ought to apologize for my explosion in the previous hour. (interruption) Okay, his head goes above the column? I told you. They're telling me that they saw the video that I saw, and Obama's head goes above the columns -- from the angle that they've been shooting, at any rate. By the way, Britney Spears' set designer designed the set for Obama. That is in the New York Post today -- and McCain's got that in an ad. I'm not joking. I am not joking. Hang on. I'll give you the guy's name. His name is Bobby Allen, a Spears set vet. It is in the New York Post. This is just too rich. McCain's already got this in an ad. Britney Spears' set designer put this thing together, came up with it. But you watch. Obama's gonna look just larger than this thing tonight, the way they're going to shoot this, on purpose. Now, I've asked all the staff, "Did I go overboard in that?" because I haven't ever lost it like that I don't think ever on this program. I'm telling you, I was blowing up at home last night. The cat wasn't safe. I had to close the door to the library. I can't handle anymore. I can't handle all the lies, lies, lies -- and then listen to some of our own bloggers talk about how effective it was.

He's that self-important in his own mind. But he really needs a BIG stage to shine. After all, Obama is not just The One - he's the Obamessiah!

As a life-long Denver Bronco fan I must object to Obama and company sullying the hallowed ground once tread on by John Elway, Terrell Davis, Ed McCaffrey, et al.

It's an obamination.

The Obamaedipus Complex...meaning someone who desires to be a Messiah, or at best someone who is worshipped like a Greek God, or false idol. In other words, they have the desire to be worshipped and applauded for doing anything and everything , even simple things, like blowing thier nose, sipping their soup, or saying "boo".

No! He'll tell us he made the winds to blow and brought the rain down upon the parched city. And he'll ride in on an ass bearing fronds of arugula!

Did I just see that right? McCain and Pawlenty with a backdrop that said “A mile high and an inch deep”?

LMBFAO!

McCain’s people are so Rove-like it’s uncanny, but instead of one Rove it’s like legions of them....they’re quick and spot on and swing back with lightening speed!

But I feel for you. I’m a panther fan and happy as hell this isn’t in my beloved Charlotte.

And I’m a transplant in Atlanta, and can you imagine this event HERE in the land of MLK Jr. etc. and hordes that saw Mike Vick as the victim?

In short I feel for you but THANK YOU for taking such an enormous burden off the rest of America and Denver is a giant and will recover and I promise PROMISE you I will always ALWAYS associate mile high with the immortal Elway who to this day I consider the best QB in my lifetime.

I heard someone on the radio today saying that this "temple" is designed to look like the White House in closeups. Judging by this photo, it may be true. That way, Obama can appear as though he is already President while giving his speech.

Kind of like this:

If its designed to look like the Rose Garden facade, its a presumptuous assertion of entitlement that borders on the offensive. He's saying: "I'm President already!" That's extreme narcissism that can only be characterized as pathological.

Folks I have a thought on what we might pray for this evening:

That at about a minute into his speech, after he has made his arrogant entrance and divine procession to the podium...his TelePromter breaks, and he has no backup speech on paper.

Finito Obombo.

When I read this, all I can think of is Eddie Murphy as Gumby.

Obambi has been rehearsing his speech so that eventuality cannot sidetrack him. I would rather pray for rain on Denver.

The Gumby costume would work well for John Edwards, too.
Gumby has that friend “Pokey”...

his TelePromter breaks

Now remember, torture is illegal in the U.S. :-))

Seriously, the man cannot speak extemporaneously, can he? Something lawyers are supposed to be good at.

At some point, it's going to be embarrassing if the MSM keep covering for him for his lack of press conferences and public appearances where he actually just talks to people.
