Cantor's history on Intrade for the last day has been interesting. It looks like his natural price is around 5%, but someone has been trying to keep it at 20%. So it goes back and forth betwen 5% and 20%, with hardly anything in between. Could be some part of a McCain head fake effort, who knows.

I’ve noticed that volatility, too. Odd.

Cantor’s wife is a big trader (runs Virginia’s 529 plan), so perhaps she knows something and plans on making a little money.

That said, while I think inTrade is useful to predict elections because the market, like the electorate, is a body of people, here we have a sample of 1 (McCain) making the call, so it doesn’t really carry over.

Here how it works: McCain could appoint an ex-governor or a current governor. That way, Cantor remains in the House and we gain a conservative VP as President of the Senate.
