Risks of Invesco Event Worry Top Dems
Denver Post via Yahoo ^ | 8.28.08 | Charles Mahtesian

Senior Democratic officials are expressing serious concerns about the political risks posed by Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High tonight.

From the elaborate stagecraft to the teeming crowd of 80,000 cheering partisans, from the vagaries of the weather to the unpredictable audience reaction, the optics surrounding the stadium event have heightened worries that the Obama campaign is engaging in a high-risk endeavor in an uncontrollable environment.

A common concern: that the stadium appearance plays against Obama's convention goal of lowering his star wattage and connecting with average Americans and gives Republicans a chance to drive home their message that the Democratic nominee is a narcissistic celebrity candidate.

"We already know he is a rock star; we already know he can bring 85,000 people together in a stadium. He has done it multiple times. He needs to talk to people who haven't made up their minds yet," said Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Extra special is the rising out of the stage entrance they plan to use. i wonder if they also have a cable system set up so he can fly over the heads of everyone like the demon he is.

He just can't help himself. His ego won't let him. For all the Moonbats’ quickness to point “similarities” where none exist between W and Hitler, there are real and very scary similarities between The One and Hitler.

Don’t you mean Hillary flying around on her broomstick saying to Barry, “I’ll get you my pretty...”

I love the Tennessee Gov statement: “We already know he is a rock star”...just keep repeating that!

I thought they were worried about the safety of their POTUS candidate...

Its open etc and not that secure....

But it was a worse worry...

“Whatever will the neighbors (Republicans) say”

Oh, horrors...

I would be more concerned about the security of this open venue. Flashbacks to the assassination of Sadat keep coming to me.

I will say lots of prayers for our Secret Service tonight. I’d hate to see any of them take a bullet because of David Axelrod’s folly.

Well, let’s hope this move backfires on the Dems.

It’s possible to have too much glitz and glamour in an event. Maybe they will go over the top here.

I really do hope this is a total all out extravaganza because that will only screw him even more with normal American people—of course liberals will love it, THEY can’t even see how far out of touch they are with normal people-—you know people like us who have morals and values and believe that the ONLY Messiah is Jesus Christ?. They will see how true it is as to the fact that ALL Obambi is is a celebrity—nothing more.

I haven’t checked the forecast for Denver tonight - but honestly, I’m almost praying for rain and/or a lot of wind.

Not only can HE not help himself, the Dems are obsessed with star-making to the point they no longer recognize the difference between making one for Hollywood or making one for President. This is, by far, the scariest development of all this election season, the need to obfuscate inexperience with the glitz in hopes it will be enough to sway the empty heads. Notice the dearth during this election of the Dems’ favorite word “gravitas” from the last election cycle. Why? Because it can hardly be used to describe their chosen one this time around.

Since the liberal/radical enviros. are all over the Dem. convention...............

Are any of them concerned about the big carbon footprint that the Invesco Mile High event will produce?

How much marginal increase in the carbon footprint is created by moving the convention for the last night to the stadium, as compared to keeping it at Pepsi Center? At least you could say that Pepsi Center was already set up and they wouldn’t see an increase in their greenhouse gases from staying there for the last night.

And what about what must be a huge security concern and increased costs for the Secret Service and local law enforcement? There too, they already had plans and procedures in place at Pepsi Center. So they had to do a lot more planning and organizing and incur great costs, all because Obama didn’t want to deliver his speech at the place that was already set up for him.

Guaranteed. No matter what they had planned for tonight, they will work fast to tone it down and explain it as a result of fear of their own vanity.

“the visuals of tens of thousands of people cheering for Obama can only help his campaign by evoking comparisons to former President Kennedy.”

....more like a scene straight out of “Triumph of the Will”...which BTW will not be released by Netflix...my request has been placed in the “unknown” shipping date category for a couple of months now.

I have a gut feeling that this coronation may p*ss of many Americans. Hillary will not be around because it was to be hers ... she's not over it.

I just wonder what she was promised. I know she'll not want to wait till 2012 or 2016 to get what she believes she deserves.

If the ONE is elected you can count on him to have statues and gigantic pictures of himself in the manner of Saddam Hussein, Mao or the tyrant rulers of the USSR. He cannot help himself.
