Brian Wilson: "That Lucky Old Sun"
Amazon ^ | 8/27/08 | Brian Wilson

Posted on 08/27/2008 9:45:07 PM PDT by JennysCool

For all the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fans out there in FReeperdom, here's a great late-summer surprise. I got a rush copy of it, and it's brilliantly done. Not "Smile" (what could be?), but your summer-into-fall listening will be all the better for this heartfelt paean to much happier days. No wonder Capitol grabbed it and re-signed Brian after all these years.

Louis Armstrong’s “That lucky old Sun” is the best ever recorded.

No, but you can hit the Amazon link and hear snippets, but the thing is, as they say, of a piece.

That is luck! And this is a great piece of work from him. He sounds way energized.

I like Satchmo’s rendition, but my vote’s for Ray Charles’ version. More soulful.
