I was lucky enough to be at the Fillmore East on the Friday of the two day recorded gig. I had no idea who they were...I went along because there was nothing else going on that night.
I just love this tune, this band and this man:

And you’ll never see me no more.
Highway Song by Blackfoot
The Band "The Night They Drove old Dixie Down"
The term Southern Rock is redundant.
3 man band ZZTop; La Grange and Sharp Dressed Man wasn’t bad. Loved their long beards and excellent guitar work. Also the same band members have been together for 40 years!
Jam Band-First time I heard that. Thanks Captain Peter Blood:)
The Allman Brothers Band - You Don’t Love Me
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mMAHQAtUB58
Ditto Blue Sky - Allman Brothers. Absolutely one of my favorites (I was going to post it, but you beat me to it). It’s a real pick-me-up happy tune, unlike so much “music” these days.
Charile Daniels: Saddle Trap and Birmingham Blues....
Marshall Tucker, lordie my favorite from my high school days; "Desert Skies" and "I should have never started Loving you" not to mention "Take the Highway" and "24 hours at a time", live especially.
Blackfoot; "Highway Song".
Under-rated guitarist; John Daranza of the Elvin Bishop group.
under-rated Base Player: the heavy set fellow from the "Atlanta Rythm Section" whose name escapes me.
The best Southern Band no one had ever heard of:
A bunch of Conneticut guys who use to open up for all of the above at big venues in the North East: "Fountainhead"
How and why they never made the big time I'll never know. If you can find their music check out: "Stay Away", and "Pirates Life" which is a long anthem that got people going crazy.
The Allman's So many favorites I do not know where to start: It's Not My Cross to Bear, Midnight Rider, Melissa, Jessica, Ramblin' Man, Blue Sky, Hell and High Water......
