I do get it. I’m aware of the word and its former usage.
I’m also aware this will be milked for all it’s worth by those whose righteous indignation rises with the wind. Reminds me of the reaction to the Dutch cartoons.
We don’t grow peanuts in my part of TX. Got watermelons!
Last time I looked, the Brazos Valley was the largest producer of Spanish peanuts in the country.
Runners and Virginia peanuts are grown in the Southeast.
Denny’s bought out Sambo’s just as they bought Googy’s and Humpty Dumpty’s. I loved the pancakes at Sambo’s and mght even stll have a Sambo’s tiger around here. I heard rumour that there might still be one in California.
Now I'm going to have to visit Jerry Bob's, money I could have saved by making my own pancakes!

Yummy. Yummy.
Stop it!
Yes apparently it is when used to refer to a black man. Evidently slaves and the segregated were referred to as boy regardless of age.
What? And have those tigers die of indigestion? How appalling! < g >
“I’ve never forgotten the end, Sambo goes up the tree, the tigers chase around the tree so fast they melt into butter, and then Sambo’s family harvests the butter and brings it home for a delicious treat!”
I have a revised version on YouTube in which Al Sharpton (black racist) and Robert Byrd (KKK) run around the tree and churn themselves into a hot fudge sundae, which Sambo (Asian Indian) then summons his friends to eat.
