No, Jimmie, tell me it’s not true, you didn’t call him that?
To: Winged Hussar
Great heads up ... jimmy comes thru again.
You're absolutely right ... if a Republican had made this statement it would lead every MSM newscast and headline for the next two weeks.

I noticed how he hesitated between the words "black" and "boy". He had to think about it for a second, but decided it was okay, BOY.
Yeah, you Democrats, keep right on thinking what you think about your race and gender neutral icons.

I was expecting more. It doesn’t come across as derogatory at all.
Now, if a certain other former president had said it...

Anyone from Texas should know that, you dig peanuts, not pick them.

Let’s not hold our breath expecting Jimmy Peanut to face the wave of outrage and revulsion that would be trumpeted if any Republican said that....... 47 year old Obama called a “black boy” on national TV by Democratic icon Jimmy Carter. Wow.

Well, Sambo was Indian, not African (or Arab for that matter).
While ordinarily I'm not in favor of the politically correct, the book has been rewritten with more typically Indian names.
And Fred Marcellino is one of my favorite illustrators. He did a dynamite Puss 'n Boots. My favorite picture in Babaji is Babaji's mother maniacally crouched over an ancient sewing machine running at about 3000 rpm, making his beautiful new red coat.

without rich southern plantation owners, no blacks would have had jobs.

I noticed his hesitation too. Would it have been so hard for him to say “black man?”
And when does he get tossed under the bus? Anyone else would have been tarred and feathered by now.

What you’re not getting is that this was a huge issue for many years as black males hated being called “boy” and it has long been considered unacceptable to call any black male over the age of 18 a “boy”..... it doesn’t have to be said with any derogatory tone to be considered unacceptable.

I thought that was the coolest story when I was little kid, in the early 60's. I must have read it a dozen times.
Then I found out it was "racist", because the MSM and the race-baiters told me so.

The sad thing is “Little Black Sambo” was written about a boy in India ... did like the thing with the pancakes though ....
