Pelosi: Census Report Shows Americans Are Worse Off Because of Bush-McCain Economic Policies

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on today’s Census Bureau report on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. Despite a small increase in 2007, real median household income is still below that of 2000, and the number of people living in poverty grew to 37.3 million last year, up from 36.5 million last year:

“Today’s Census report confirms that the economic worries of American families are all too real and underscore the urgent need for a New Direction on the kitchen table issues facing American families.

“Since George Bush became President, Americans are coping with rising costs of health care, energy, groceries and education. Since 2000, the real median income of non-elderly households has declined by nearly $2,200, nearly 6 million more families are living in poverty, and 7 million more Americans are without health care coverage. It is no wonder that families worry that the American Dream is no longer in reach – they are working harder, but are living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to make ends meet.

“Americans cannot afford another four years of Bush economic policies that Senator John McCain is promising, which have resulted in an economy on the brink of recession that is leaving middle-class families behind.”

Census Data on the Bush Economy

• The number of Americans living in poverty grew to 37.3 million (12.5 percent) in 2007, up from 36.5 million in 2006, and despite improvements over the past three years, real median American household income is still below that of 2000.

• The number of Americans without health insurance totals 45.7 million -- even though the percentage of Americans without health insurance did fall from 15.8% in 2006 to 15.3% in 2007. That improvement is only due to the government health care programs of Medicare and Medicaid, which Democrats created and have always championed and which Republicans continue to try to slash. Indeed, employer-provided health insurance and other private health insurance continued to erode in 2007.

• Today’s economic news from the Census covers 2006-2007 and does not take into account the consequences of the economic downturn that began late last year. Since January, the number of American jobs has dropped by 463,000 and the unemployment rate has climbed to 5.7 percent -- the highest level in more than four years. Real earnings have decreased by 3.1 percent over the past 12 months.

Does that census report say anything about natural gas not being a fossil fuel?

Well I suppose it is hard to blame Congress, afterall they have done absolutely nothing. America still can’t drill it’s way towards energy independance. Thanks Nancy.

While it is apparent that Pelosi is stunningly stupid, she seems to be projecting that on Americans, as well, if she thinks this crude propaganda will have any influence.

Bush = not McCain

McCain = not Bush

I'm assuming that they are including the border jumpers in these stats.

Subject: Congressional Approval Rating

The Congressional Approval Rating is down to a historically low 9%. As John McCain recently said, "That's down to blood kin and staffers."

Just shows that anyone can skew the numbers to whatever fits their agenda.

I'm telling you, Botox Nan is losing it (mentally).

As for this press release, I;ll keep it simple:

Today’s economic news from the Census covers 2006-2007 and does not take into account the consequences of the economic downturn that began late last year. Since January, the number of American jobs has dropped by 463,000 and the unemployment rate has climbed to 5.7 percent -- the highest level in more than four years. Real earnings have decreased by 3.1 percent over the past 12 months.

And when did you become Speaker, Nancy???

Nancy's invested in the T. Boone Pickens natural gas and wind scam. If she allows a vote on drilling, that would most likely pass, the price of oil would fall and she needs the price of gas at the pump to stay high so that natural gas becomes a fuel of choice ensuring a handsome return on her personal investment.

Household Income Rises, Poverty Rate Unchanged, Number of Uninsured Down

She doesn't understand economics any better than she does Catholicism.

That ia a both a 'hugh' and 'series' conflict of interest, but no one will press her on it.

Ok, Nancy it's your fault. Your no drilling, no refineries, no nuclear power plants policies have destroy American jobs, choked business growth, pushed the dopey automakers over the cliff, and inflated prices (because everything in the country depends on energy).

In Short: Nancy, you know zero about economics!

Since George Bush became President.

Of course, she couldn't have said, "Since President Bush was elected..."

The lib's do not want the word "President" before the word "Bush."

To date, Pelosi’s entire time as Speaker has consisted of a “criticize and complain campaign” against the President.

Housing bust, oil costs, is it any wonder we lost out. Will 12-18% interest rates and higher taxes ease our burden? So we have a candidate who has no real experience and his running mate from a do nothing congress? Wow we sure do have something to look forward to now, don’t we? To think Pelosi is only 2 degrees from being the POTUS. If you (plural) caught Dussy’s son on Fox this a.m., he did a street interview with photographs of Biden, Pelosi, Reed and Cheney, and the people he asked couldn’t identify who they were. The people on the street were there at the Covention, and they vote? Where was Leno, it was a gold mine for his Jay Walking routine.

It's widely known now that the MSM is completely in the tank for the Rats, so there's gonna be no exposure by them.

I heard that about Nancy on Rush's show last week. Talk radio is the last beacon of truth in the media, which is why the Rats want to shut it down.

Pelosi is intellectually and emotionally challenged - totally insecure, and has a toxic waste dump for a face.

Now - think about it - her staff have got to be a bunch of friggin’ mental midgets from that cesspool she represents.

That is essentially what we’ve devolved into - absolutely disgusting.
