Ms. Pelosi is too clever by half, as they say. I "seriesly" doubt that she is an authority on St. Augustin and Aristotle. She's had her lackeies try to fabricate a defense for her indefensible statements which are in direct contradiction to Catholic teachings.

Common belief from Aristotle until a few hundred years ago was that the baby was not human or did not receive a soul until the time of "quickening", when the child moved in the mother's womb. This was the belief of St. Augustin. The Church has changed positions on abortion before quickening throughout the centuries but due to advances in medical sciences it is now irrefutably known that the fetus is an individual human from the time of conception.

Ms. Pelosi wishes to muddy the waters with outdated and discounted doctrine. That the child possesses human life from the time of conception has been a known truth in the Catholic Church since well before Ms. Pelosi was born, for her to argue otherwise highlights another truth. That Ms. Pelosi is truly as stupid and shallow as she seems.

It really doesn’t matter. The fact is that Canon Law from the earliest days of the Church prohibited abortion.

Here is an excerpt from the “Didache” written sometime after 50 A.D.:

Chapter 2. The Second Commandment: Grave Sin Forbidden. And the second commandment of the Teaching; You shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit pederasty, you shall not commit fornication, you shall not steal, you shall not practice magic, you shall not practice witchcraft, you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born. You shall not covet the things of your neighbor, you shall not swear, you shall not bear false witness, you shall not speak evil, you shall bear no grudge. You shall not be double-minded nor double-tongued, for to be double-tongued is a snare of death. Your speech shall not be false, nor empty, but fulfilled by deed. You shall not be covetous, nor rapacious, nor a hypocrite, nor evil disposed, nor haughty. You shall not take evil counsel against your neighbor. You shall not hate any man; but some you shall reprove, and concerning some you shall pray, and some you shall love more than your own life.

Yes, Eagles6, there isn't a doubt that you are correct. I well understand her/their tactics.

Actually, Pelosi probably doesn't really believe the explanation she gave and furthermore, understands there are Catholics who are truly ignorant of the facts you stated and will buy her explanation. It is important for the success of Democrats, to keep as many Catholics voting for them as possible and thus to that end, they will offer Catholics flimsy excuses that have no basis in reality.
