Police in the US say there is "insufficient evidence" to charge three men who were allegedly planning to assassinate Barack Obama.

The guy probably jumped out the window because he had drugs in the room, not because he was planning an assassination. Jumping out a 6th story window is not the act of a rational person.

IIRC, the “plan” was to fire from an elevated location in the stadium 750 yards from the podium. Even with good equipment and marksmanship training, that would be a pretty crazy attempt for a steady hand. For a meth head, that would be out of the question.
Who would have thought that drugs could keep you out of jail.

My theory was that all the ‘conspirators’ worked for various agencies, there wasn’t any communication among the agencies, and they set each other up.

Right! The Secret Service was just going to let them waltz in there with a high-powered rifle and ammunition. No problem!
Meth can sure kill a lot of brain cells.

750 yards is yearly a half mile. There is no stadium in America that is that large. The playing field + endzone + space to the stands (if there is any) would be only about 150 yards.
