Cantor, 3 new articles in 10 minutes!
What’s that I see on the horizon?

(McCain/Cantor)

I think what I like about Cantor is that he hasn't been in politics for long. Been in the House only since 2001. And he has well rounded private sector experience Joe Biden lacks. That's good. At 72, McCain needs a younger man to reach out to voters of my generation and the so called Millenials.

The other consideration is whether his vice presidential pick would hinder his chances of winning on election dayAh, wouldn't a better consideration be whether his pick would help his chances of winning?

I think it would be a political mistake this year for McCain to pick a WASP man as his VP. Instead, Palin, Cantor, or maybe Jindal. Boldness here would pay off. What if in the Ford-Carter race Ford had chosen Anne Armstrong as he had considered doing?

Well, if people are worried about someone like Palin not having enough experience I don’t see how Cantor is a step up in that department.
I still favor Palin, she would be a much better asset in the campaign.
And though I supported Romney in the primary, I would rather McCain pick someone who will command attention in a “getting-to-know-you” type of deal. Nobody wants to know anything else about Romney. People would be interested in learning about a Palin, Jindal, etc.

“a Cantor selection could put Virginia in the McCain column. “
This is the only thing disagreeable with this article.
That statement is not really true. Cantor wont get him much in VA (but then McCain will carry VA on his own, or he’s toast overall), and polls showed Cantor added nothing to McCain in VA.
Romney will be a bit better for McCain electorally, eg, in MI and NV and CO. Cantor is less experienced and well-known but is a more reliable and purer conservative.
Because he’s more conservative, I would prefer Cantor, but the only electoral advantage would be the interesting possibility of driving up Republican Jewish vote.

Cantor is an interesting choice, but I’ve seen polls suggesting he has a ‘disfavored son’ effect in his home state of Virginia.
Unless having him on the ticket tipped the Jewish vote to McCain so that he could carry New York, a downside in Virginia would be disaster.
I still favor Palin (or maybe Kay Bailey Hutchinson).

If it's Romney I'll have to wear an air pack at the polls to avoid the stench. And I'll be reminding myself that I'm voting against B Hussein Obama because of the Supreme Court. Because I sure as hell won't be voting for McCain/Romney.

Of those mentioned, I think Cantor is far and away the best choice.

I am wondering if maybe you aren’t Eric Cantor’s brother-in-law? :)
