"Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech"

There was a time when people valued that right. Actually, I suspect that the law enforcement officers who are enforcing the demand to remove the sign are sympathetic. I don't see any sense of urgency in the comments. From the article:

"They had not brought enough water and food. They came down to get water and food. There was a rumor that they went to lunch but it's not true. They are just taking a break," said Andrea Burns, the community relations manager with the Jefferson County Sheriff's office. "Our intention is to take it down as soon as possible, once they are re-hydrated," she said .... Currently, the park is working to have the group remove the sign as soon as possible.

It would be nice if "as soon as possible" turned out to be right after the convention wraps up. I approve of free speech, especially political speech, whether or not I happen to agree with the message.

If they do take it down without a fight I hope they do it with a lot of loud statements about freedom of speech and attacks on freedom of speech by the oppressive democrat party.

Well, I think that mere private citizens like these should comply with the orders of the authorities and remove the sign ASAP. And in order to ensure the removal is as thorough and complete as possible, they should use roto-tillers to ensure that no visible signs of the sheets remain when they leave.
