I understand that Petraeus is a brilliant man.

At the end of the day on VP picks, I’m a pragmatist. Where are you weak and where are you strong?

The selection needs to bring something to the table, and hopefully something that overcomes some weakness.

1. Petraeus is from New York, and it isn’t likely that his presence on the ticket would flip it to McCain.

2. Petraeus is a soldier, and their vote already belongs to McCain.

Very good points. And he also would be green to high level campaigning and wouldn’t have much time to figure out how that works.

What do you think Petraeus has been doing with his people to people both with Iraqis, various factions, and dealing with Senators who don’t have a clue.

I guess you don’t remember Gen. Eisenhower a two term President
