DNC plans to sink teeth into McCain
The Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW ^ | August 25, 2008 | Salena Zito

DENVER -- From the convention hall: All evidence points to a Democratic convention that will have a take-no-prisoners aggressive approach all week, driving home the contrast between John McCain and Barack Obama at every opportunity possible.

An official speaking on background said that they were "not going to make the same mistake that we did in '04."

Democratic analyst Mark Siegel said, "We begged the Kerry people to make the election a plebiscite on Bush, and make the '04 convention, from beginning to end the Reagan '80 series of questions: Are we better off now than we were four years ago? Are your jobs more secure? Are your children's futures safer? Is America's standing in the world better, our influence and respect greater? If the answers are yes, George Bush is your man. If you think America can and must do better, it is time for change."

Siegel said "Shrum ... would not let us do it, telling us that we can't go negative, just go positive, build Kerry up, don't drive Bush down, etc."

We’re definitely better off by far than we were 8 years ago.

So, are we going to be better off before or after we're damned?

If they get personal with McCain it will backfire bigtime. McCain, even though he’s a RINO, is a genuine American hero.

The Democrats are going to show their nastiness like they do every election and remind people why they vote Republican.

Bring it on.

“Are we better off now than we were four years ago?”

My response would be: Are we better off now than we were two years ago when the Dems took control of Congress?

They know they desperately have to try to shift the focus away from their gaffe-prone empty suit candidate.

The real question is whether we’re better off than we would have been, under a Gore or Kerry administration.

It’s a pity “our” candidate affirmed we’re worse off.

The Republicans should wise up and nationalize the election as a referendum on the 9% approval-rated Democrat controlled congress.

Debate him, Barack Hussein Obama. Debate him.

The Democrats have to change the issue to McCain. They cannot afford to have the election remain a referendum on Obama.
