Since Barack Obama failed to choose Hillary Clinton as his running mate, is the table set for John McCain to select a woman as his Vice President? Dick Morris has made a strong suggestion that McCain - who picks his running mate on Friday - should select Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison as his #2, to help push dismayed Clinton voters to the GOP.
Hutchison burst onto the national scene in 1993, when she was elected to the U.S. Senate to fill the remainder of Lloyd Bensen's term, when he left to serve as Bill Clinton's first Treasury Secretary. Since then, Huthinson has been re-elected in 1994, 2000 and 2006, beating token DNC opposition each time. Despite being the the most-senior female Republican senator, recent buzz has suggested that Hutchison may resign her seat to run for Texas Gov. in 2010.
Hutchison has a lifetime rating of 90 by the American Conservative Union, which is actually eight points higher than that of John McCain. Although adding Huchison to the ticket would do nothing to expand the GOP electoral vote map (Texas is solid Red), McCain could certainly do worse than Kay Bailey Hutchison.
That's funny. But how about Osama bin Biden?
She's pro-choice.
One Senator on the ticket is bad enough. We need someone with actual executive experience instead.

On immigration, a few hours after the border fence bill was passed, she is the one who filed a bill to gut it. If she’s against securing the borders with real fences that really do the job, she’s weak on immigration.

If Dick Morris is saying it then the chances are extremely large that it will never happen. Morris blows with the wind on each day and has no grounding imo.
KBH has repeatedly said she doesn’t want the VP position and wants to begin making plans to return to Texas after the elections this fall. She said that again in Texas last week on her Texas bus tour.
I’ve begged her to become the first pro-life woman in the Senate. She won’t.
She signed the letters urging President Bush to use embryos for research. She’s sponsored legislation and voted in favor of destroying embryos every chance she got and walks a fine line on abortion.
So, she wants to make it a little harder to kill some children, but wants to be sure women can still kill children.
And that, to you, is a fine position? Like if someone weren’t categorically opposed to rape or child abuse, but wanted to make it a little more difficult in some situations, that would be a good position?
Not to me in this context. McCain passes away, and the president is someone older than 14 who still hasn’t figured out that you DON’T kill babies for being inconvenient or imperfect, and who will pick Supremes from that vantage point.
Just doesn’t work for me - particularly with a rich enough field to make such a pick unnecessary.

Where is Palin on Life and Foreign Policy? I don’t know how we would know a whole lot about a governor from a state like Alaska to be able to chart her.
I looked up the National Right to Life Rating on her and it was 75%. If she has stated what you posted, she will kill the ticket for me. No pro-choice person allowed at that level. Maybe someone like Lieberman for Sec of State and Giuliani for Attorney General; but, where they have an opportunity to decide on Right to Life, only lifers need apply.
I didn’t categorize her that way. National Right to Life did.
McCain was for embryo research as well, but seems to be softening on that - going, rightly, for non-controversial stem cells.
I'd think more along the lines of Palin, due to her leadership experience (sure, it's just Alaska, but at least she's a actual governor and not a congress type). Really, you could pick a dark horse executive female of almost any background and get some real traction among female voters.
McCain needs a counterweight to balance out his loose cannon, fighter pilot style. While there's some merit to the idea it should be someone stodgy, with a solid financial background, the current political scene is primed to react very strongly to the idea of a capable female executive.
Let me put this another way. The Democratic ticket is balanced between a romantic rookie, and a boring veteran. The Republican ticket is all boring veteran, and they're still running neck-and-neck. If McCain has wherewithal to realize that the country is in the mood for some inspiration, he'd see he's not the guy to give it to them. But he can sure scare some up.
All he needs is a reasonably competent woman with an inspiring story, one who can be groomed for succession, and he'll blow Obama/Biden out of the water by double digits. (If for no other reason than he'll be taking the Obama/Biden formula (rookie leads/veteran follows) and reversing it back into the order people naturally expect.)
Yep. Pro-abort, anti-2nd amendment rino woman on the ticket will really help McCain out. </s>
