Over the course of his presidential bid, Biden cemented his reputation as -- how to put this nicely? -- less than disciplined on the campaign trail. In the summer of 2006, as he was publicly mulling the race, Biden set off a controversy over comments he made about Indian Americans. "I've had a great relationship [with Indian Americans]," Biden said. "In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking." On the day he formally announced his candidacy, a New York Observer story that quoted Biden as calling Obama "articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy" came out, and the resultant uproar effectively undercut any momentum Biden was hoping to build. Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.), chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, talks to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) during the hearing. While Biden was on his best verbal behavior for much of the rest of the campaign, there is no question that his tendency to shoot from the lip worries some in Obama world. As one Democratic consultant put it: "You know there will be three days in the campaign where someone in Chicago will get a call and respond -- 'What did you say he said?.'"

amazing that this is the dems best choice...
Biden got something like 2 - 3 percent of the Dem primary votes. He really has no national following.
Hillary would have been the very best choice. That BHusseinO did not choose her is a reflection on his stupidity, ineptitude, and fear.
Maybe he doesn’t want to be president.
Hillary would have made yet another co-presidency. He doesn’t want to share.
maybe hitlery didn’t want to be VP.
I had commented the other day that even David Axelrod wasn’t stupid enough to pick Biden for VP. Oh, how wrong I was. He really is that stupid. Axelrod has now come out and attacked Romney, which to me indicates that he is showing his hand. I think a McCain-Romney ticket will destroy Obama-Biden. At this point, it’s McCain’s to lose.
Michelle hussein obama would not have put up with that one.
I’m wondering if he didn’t choose a weak candidate because he doesn’t want to be seen as less qualified than his own V.P. Yet Biden is widely known, and has been involved in several primary seasons, so Obama can pretend that he’s a heavyweight.
Joe Biden is Obama’s trophy. He beat Hillary, then humiliated her. Now he put someone on the ticket who dissed him during the debate.
personally i do not like biden.
it will be interesting to see what talk radio offers tomorrow!
Give me a B ~ Biden
Give me an A ~ Axelrod
Give me an M ~ Michelle
Give me an A Ayers
And what does that give you?
Not even comic relief?
I have an off-the-wall theory that Obamar knows he is not going to win and needs a fall guy...Biden-with-foot-in-mouth-disease. It’s all that typical white guy’s fault.
He's not. My take is that other Dems fear what is going to come out on Obama (radical ties, etc...) and they don't want to have to go out and defend him. He is the only one stupid enough to accept the offer.
I feel funny going into a Dunkin Donuts or 7-11 because I don’t have a slight Indian accent.
I think he meant to say that many Indians from India are working in these places, but he said you can’t go in there unless you have that accent.
He puts foot in mouth a lot. This should be a fun campaign. Can’t wait for the VP debate with Biden against whoever the Republican is.
Did anyone else hear that McCain purposely has held off naming his running mate because he wanted to see who Obama picked before he finalized his choice? You figure with the convention schedules, and the Republicans going last, McCain was in a position to hold off picking someone publicly until after Obama committed to a Veep candidate.
I was assuming McCain would wait.
I won’t go to a 7 eleven or dunkin doughnuts. don’t like the looks i get from these men.
I walk with my money in hand and don’t spend it there if I don’t like them or their ways of doing business.
