"Others have closed in areas with large numbers of underinsured and uninsured patients, leaving access to hospital care in short supply in those areas."

That's "liberal-speak" for illegal aliens. Are you paying attention, John McCain?

We are losing 2-3 MDs a month here in the Reno area. A couple have went to work for the VA, a couple permanent staff at a hospital and others have just left medicine altogether disgusted with the whole thing. I also heard Friday that 2 medical groups in Carson City just shut down. MDs cannot afford to keep the doors open here with costs going up in all areas. Many stopped taking Medicare and Medicaid in the last year because they were only paying 10-15% of patient costs and when the patient has no supplemental insurance, the MDs were eating the rest. Between this and Medical Malpractice Insurance....it should get real interesting for people.

Aaron Spelling’s widow is buying a 47 million dollar condo in Century City in a new building called ‘The Century.’ I’m suggesting that people like Mrs. Spelling should have saved this hospital.

And with the recent Kalifornia Supreme Court decision forcing doctors to treat elective procedures even though they are against it for religious reasons - well any docs with a lick of sense should leave that perverted state in droves!

The citizens of Los Angeles have to reach the conclusion that they need to stop allowing illegals to choke up their ER's and not have to pay the bill.

Until that happens they will continue to lose hospitals. It's not going to change until the legal citizen can no longer go to the ER, because there isn't one anymore. That's going to be the wake up call.

Are you paying attention, John McCain?

He and the GOP elite are fully aware of the fallout from failing to strictly enforce our immigration laws but would prefer to sacrifice safety and national security, like their socialist brethren in the Democrat party, in order to expand the voting base.

Between illegal aliens and malpractice lawsuits, the wonder is that any hospital in California is still in operation.

The California Left thinks there's a Goose laying Golden Eggs that will finance ALL of their foolish dreams.

When I explained to a highly intelligent, well educated Californian that California cannot provide welfare for Mexico and remain solvent, he was stunned.

It is always painful when reality shatters delusion, and the pain, the size and power of the delusional system, and the determination to resist reality are all directly proportional.

Here is what I see as the “dirty little secret” in all this:

Liberals WANT hospitals to fail. They WANT the systems to get overloaded and be unable to provide care.

They want health care to fail badly enough to get the majority of voters to clamor for the government to ride in on a white horse and fix it.

What most of those people who WOULD clamor for it don’t realize is that they won’t be knights on white horses, they are going to be more like the guys on the black horses in the “Lord of The Rings” movies.

Ah.. what's this gem. Buried near and at the end.
Carol Meyer, "This means more than 1,000 emergency patients a month will now have to be treated elsewhere," Century City Doctors Hospital, located in a relatively affluent area ....
Sooooo since this is in an affluent area I guess all the Movie Stars and rich folks are the 1,000+ a month going there for sore throats, splinters and runny noses.

Huh, what? No, not Movie stars or the rich.
Hmmm then who are the "emergency patients" who aren't paying??

(i'm gonna have to give this some thought) /s

That's "liberal-speak" for illegal aliens.

Wrong.

66 rural hospitals in California serve an overwhelmingly poor white (Republican) population which is utterly dependent on Medical.

When the budget dispute drags on past the legal deadline the State of California stops reimbursing those hospitals. The State established an emergency carry-over fund to help hospitals cope but this year the dispute has been so prolonged that the fund was exhausted.

If agreement is not reached very soon those hospitals will begin closing.

There’s more there than meets the eye. CCDH used to be Century City Hospital, a Tenet Healthcare facility. Tenet lost a bundle there and then played hardball with the building owner and lost. They wound up giving the facility back to the landlord. That’s when CCDH came into the picture, and, IIRC, they assumed a massive amount of debt in the transaction.

I’m not sure their business model was sustainable, either. They aimed, from the beginning, at the high end clients, reducing the beds fro over 220 to about 176, and added luxury accommodations, as well. That put them competing dead smack against Cedars Sinai.

It’s not like they didn’t know, going in, that they would have to treat every illegal that walks in, or is brought in by ambulance, for free.

Well, at least there is still Brotman nearby. :)

It’s not just illegal aliens. How many inner-city gunshot victims are in the ER in California and don’t have insurance? Hopefully, by them closing, people will realize that healthcare isn’t free. All healthcare services should be prepaid, IMO.

["Regionally, 14 emergency rooms have been closed in the last five years, including 10 in Los Angeles County. After the closure, there will be 74 ERs remaining in the county."]

Send your Thank You cards to the Federal Government.
