No sooner had Barack Obama publicly announced his new running mate had John McCains campaign produced an attack ad asking: Why not Hillary?
Passed Over will hit the airwaves at (you guessed it) 3 a.m. Sunday. The timing is a reference to Hillary Clintons national security ad during the Democratic primary and the same time the Obama campaign sent out its text message announcing Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden as the vice-presidential nominee.
She won millions of votes. But isnt on his ticket. Why? an announcer says in the 30-second spot.
The answer? For speaking the truth.
The ad, which has not yet been released, then ticks off a litany of criticism Clinton used against Obama in the prolonged primary, according to a transcript sent to reporters.
You never hear the specifics, Clinton says.
On the Rezko scandal, the voice says.
We still dont have a lot of answers about Senator Obama, Clinton says in footage from the primaries.
Senator Obamas campaign has become increasingly negative, Clinton says in another scene.
The announcer closes by saying The truth hurt. And Obama didnt like it.

Thats *exactly* what they should be doing. Driving a wedge between Obama and Hillary partisans, and instigating them to start a circular firing squad with nuclear weapons.
If Hillary tries to steal the nomination at this point, the wheels would fall off the DNC and the American left. John McCain could take the next two months off and still win the election. Given the current mood of the average Democratic voter, the entire left half of this country would dissolve into a foaming-at-the-mouth political civil war.
All McCain would have to do at that point would be to look safe, bland and reasonable.
I think Obama released the news at 3 am (midnight my time, PST) only because the news media had figured it out, at about 10:30 pm PST, since the U.S. Secret Service was spotted then at Biden’s house and it was then obvious.
So I don’t think this had anything to do with the “3 am phone call” commercial.
I think Obama had planned to “text message” his news at 10 am EST this morning but had to do it earlier because he was scooped.
My MIL is one! She’s never voted for a Republican before, voted for Hillary in the primary, and now says she’s voting McCain.
100 % agree
a "mccain ad" is not necessary to show how unpresidential obwana is
What does 1 minute have to do with it? McCain has many millions he must spend prior to the convention so it being one minute is not out of the question. We’ll see if the ad just says it is from the McCain campaign or if it has “I’m John McCain and I approve this message” - if the latter, it is being run on TV.
The ad isn’t about polling numbers or analysis it is about stirring the pot.
You know, I never thought of him -
John Bolton would be a flawless pick.
“John McCain has grown a large set of political balls here lately. Im starting to like this guy.”
His ad people are in top of things like I never seen before. They are writing as fast as the stories are breaking. Looks like they are having fun with it.
very original...never heard it before.../s
SARAH PALIN.....YES! YES! YES!
Yes. Word has it that McCain is picking Hillary for his VEEP.
BEWARE of the CHOAS! They're bad news!
If Hillary tries to steal the nomination at this point, the wheels would fall off the DNC and the American left. John McCain could take the next two months off and still win the election. You are assuming then that if Hillary should somehow get her party's nomination at this point, she has no chance what-so-ever at beating McCain? None? Are we talking about the same Hillary that "suspended" her campaign in preparation for this and isn't in it to take 2nd place?
Obama is plummeting in the polls. There is no need for chaos at this point, just a wisely-run McCain campaign. This ad has great potential to backfire.
He was my first pick for President months ago- would still love to see him as VP. Or, if not Bolton, Petraeus (who has adamantly refused to consider any political post) or his next in line, Ray Odierno.
Bless her heart.
I wonder if he hired a few really pi$$ed off freepers to start writing material??
Maybe Lazamataz and Registered are out there writing McCain ads. ... heh ... that would just be interesting.
