What a difference a summer makes. Barack Obama began the summer as he began the campaign: the Agent of Change. With the summer drawing to an end, he has chosen a running mate who is as old school as they come and as familiar as a worn-out shoe....

The MSM said that W had to pick Cheney because of gravitas, will they say the sam about Biden?

What a joke! Obama the liar and Biden the word-thief.

Wikipedia - "plagiarism": "For instance, Delaware Senator Joe Biden was forced out of the 1988 U.S. Presidential race (but remained in the U.S. Senate) when it was discovered that parts of his campaign speeches were plagiarized from speeches by British Labour party leader Neil Kinnock and Robert Kennedy."

I’m anxious to see what kind of “bump” Obama’s comrades in the “media” give him after the convention. I’m guessing they’ll give him a 10 to 15 point lead over McCain. It’ll probably depend on how many free handouts and “carbon credit” certificates they get at the convention.

Biden was a strategic pick for Obama. He brings experience to the ticket, a well known name and a winner.

Of course, we hate him, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a deft pick by O.

Isn’t Biden the schumck that spoke for 20 min during John Roberts’ hearing and managed to ask only 1 question?

He sure loves to hear himself talk

well known name? By who?

Whn you have polls that show less than 10% can even name who the VP is or who’s on the Supreme Court, I doubt anyone knows who Biden is.

Sure the pundits do, but the folks? No.

A winner? What has Biden won? He’s a 2 lime loser running for the WH, never making it past IA and NH either time.

He’s won a lifetime Senate seat in DE, but by that standard, Ted Stevens, Pete Domenici, Bob Byrd and Dan Akaka are also winners.

“well known name? By who?”

Democrat leaders, functionaries and apparatchiks. This pick wasn’t to satisfy the rank and file, it was to calm the fears of party leaders who were beginning to feel Obama didn’t have what it takes to win in November.

National Review, First Take [Peter Robinson]

Before winning election to the Senate three-and-a-half decades ago—Biden ranks fourth in seniority among Democrats, sixth overall; how’s that for a fresh face?—Biden practiced law for three years. That’s it. Three years of fresh-out-of-law school practice represents the sum and total of Biden’s profession experience before joining the Senate.

Obama-Biden? A candidate with an astonishingly thin professional background—Community organizer? Desultory lecturer in law school?—has just named as his running mate a man whose principal professional achievement is to have perfected his skills as a gasbag.

Only way Obama/Biden wins is by fraud or by forfeit.

One small problem with that scenario... Democrat party leaders, functionaries, and apparatchiks aren't the *voting* base. So, they felt that maybe Obummer didn't have what it takes to win in November? How does Biden translate into votes?

Obummer is in a statistical dead heat when he should have been leading by double digits. The core problem *still* remains, the fact that Obummer will *not* be able to win in November, barring circumstances outside human control...

Fair questions.

“Democrat party leaders, functionaries, and apparatchiks aren’t the *voting* base.”

The only way Barach could significantly influence the dem voting base was to take Hillary...and that wasn’t ever going to happen. His next beswt bet was to shore up his support among party leaders.

“How does Biden translate into votes?”

$$$$$$$$$

Agreed. At this point Obama is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Deft pick? Oh, it was. For our entertainment and Bambi's detriment. I'd have preferred Uncle Jeremiah, but Plugs will do in a pinch!

Don’t underestimate Biden. He will immediately begin attempting to plug holes in the T/N Obama Doria.
