This election has me tortured. I belong to a business group that consists of seven business owners. Because I'm the lone Democrat, I take a lot of grief. But at our latest meeting I had to confess, "I think I'm becoming a Republican."
Why? Well, McCain's social policies still make me sick, scared, and disgusted. And I still can't believe that STUPID Paris Hilton ad that he approved. But I also can't believe how naïve O'Bama is. His "tax the rich" routine is going to cost me big money -- money I don't have because I heavily re-invest in my company. He clearly doesn't understand how small businesses work.
Like many other business owners, I have a Subchapter S corporation. That means I pay taxes on my income regardless of whether I take it out of the company or reinvest it in the company. If he raises taxes as promised, it will mean I'll have to pay even higher taxes on money that I'm not seeing. That will force me -- and a lot of other business owners -- to take out more and reinvest less. That's how you strangle a business -- and ultimately the economy.
I really don't know what I'm going to do on Election Day. I think I'm having an identity crisis.
Maybe not vote for him, but how many throw many at him in a “please don’t hurt me” appeal?
That’s EXACTLY what I thought reading this.
Grow up. Vote Republican. McCain's got a lot of flaws, but Obambi will kill the economy. It's as simple as that.
“many”=”money”
Sorry, shouldn’t reply when I’m dead tired.
Bad Democrat.
So Jay, what you're saying is you are in favor of murdering unborn babies but hit you in the wallet and oh no you can't have that.
Democrats, selfish to the core.
Does any Democrat?
Only a woman thinks like this.
Economies work to the extent that they follow free market economics. Societies work to the extent that they follow the "social policies" that the author hates.
Still, I'm happy for even a partial wising-up here.
The other thing is, Obama isn't "naive" at all. He is a crypto-Marxist and he knows exactly what he wants to do to the economy.
How anyone in business?
How bout how anyone who works for a living?
Anyone involved in any productive activity?
How bout anyone whose actions, on the net, sum to a positive total, rather than a debit borne by others’ productivity?
Conflicted is being generous!
My conflict is whether I’m even going to vote at all!
Having watched this election season for the last 200 YEARS, I’ve come to the conclusion that my choices are ... Stalin or Gorbachev.
While McLAME has been Sounding good LATELY, His words and his record are of no acquaintance. Besides, I got the funny feeling that NOBAMA won’t be the nominee ... I’ve seen Clinton treachery before and I expect a full Coup d’etat from Clintons.
Sounds like a Libertarian to me.
could be...
Liberal business woman who thinks abortion is an investment in crime fighting .
I pay taxes on my investments whether I take them out or reinvest them. Obama plans to increase this tax burden to create a Global Poverty Fund. Take it from our pockets to send it overseas. One way to help his half-brother George who lives in a shack in Kenya.
Although it is funny that taxes seem to be okay until someone comes after their money. Then it is a serious problem. All of the social and defense issues are put on the back burner when your money supply visibly dries up.
There is not much different than the gas price issue. At $4.00 a gallon, people actually SAW their money going away. Then, you get a bunch of Dems wanting to drill with the conservatives, even though the other issues bother them.
Problem is, after the issue is resolved, they slide right back into their socially liberal/pacifist/pro taxes mindsets.
