Bush administration unveils new abortion regulation

The Bush administration proposed new rules today that critics say would make it more difficult for women to obtain abortions, and for men and women to obtain contraceptives.

After more than a month of internal -- and eventually public -- debate, the administration unveiled regulations that, if enacted, would provide stronger protections for doctors and other healthcare providers to refuse to perform medical procedures -- or, possibly, sell contraceptives -- if such steps violate their religious beliefs.

Jill Morrison, the senior counsel of the National Women's Law Center, told Countdown to Crawford when we reported on the draft regulation in July that it was "essentially a hit list against anything that protects a patient's rights to get access to legal and needed health services" in the area of reproduction.

You missed my point once again...the point was FREEDOM I didn't do bc pills either, a 'boyfriend' is not an animal in heat LOL I only had 1 child myself, 'his will' not my will so my heart goes out to you.
I sat my daughter down and explained the options to her regarding birth control, boyfriends, responsibilities and consequences, she replied, 'you know Mom, i believe i'll wait, finish school, get a great job and find the man i love first.
10 years later she thanked me for giving her the freedom and respect to make her own decisions. Thank God she made the right ones.
One of the things i appreciate about FreeRepublic is it allows people with different opinions to agree to disagree.

FREEDOM! is not having to dispense drugs you consider unethical.

I’m sure you’re a nice person, but your logic is flawed.

but your logic is flawed.

If you look back to any of my posts, no where did i mention birth control pills. There are other forms of contraception IE: Norplant, Diaphragms, IUDs to name a few and several other over the counter products that are just as effective and safe.
I think you are a nice person also and i admire your passion. Keep up the good work!

Scared? Really? You can get contraceptives from 99% of the pharmacies, County Health Departments, groceries, Student Health Services, and truckstop lavatories in America---- plus mail-order --- and you're "scared" because some unusually conscientious pharmacist in Powell, OH doesn't carry contraceptives?

Did the parents assist her, enable her, or collude in her having underage sex? If yes, then your answer is “yes.”

No one can be forced against their conscience. I would leave medical practice before I would be part of an abortion.

When I was in school it was optional whether to watch an abortion. I took some flak from senior residents for refusing, but there was no real coercion
I understand it is different in some training programs today. Abortions are required to complete the program. I would find a different program or leave the field altogether.
But I could not be forced to do something against my conscience

Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said: “Women’s ability to manage their own healthcare is at risk of being compromised by politics and ideology."

Now, let us move on folks...i have. This thread was yesterday afternoon for god sakes. Thank you.

I think that Obama has sealed his doom in more ways than one. But I also think that McCain is in the pocket of those in power who want to continue to circumvent the constitution. My home state of Ny will most likely vote for Obama unless democrats vote for McCain. I think it’s time that we Americans stopped distracting ourselves and checked out the Constitution Party before it’s too late. And put our necks on the line by voting our consciences not our fears. Please consider Chuck Baldwin. I know that few have heard of him, but isn’t that the problem? The media control our politics and filter what we see and think.
