Hmmm...reminds me of the Somali Muslim who "committed suicide" with a freaking pound of cyanide in his Denver hotel room just a few blocks from the convention site. Move along now.

(this is inevitable, and you someone will say it)
"white powder"! - that's racist!
But seriously, if this turns out to be anthrax or something similar, this is serious stuff.

DENVER (Reuters) - The Denver campaign headquarters of presidential candidate John McCain was evacuated on Thursday after the office received an envelope containing a threatening letter and an unidentified white powder, a campaign spokesman said.
The letter arrived in the mail in the afternoon, and the campaign immediately notified local and federal law enforcement authorities, said Jeff Sadosky, a spokesman for the campaign in suburban Washington, D.C.
Sadosky added, “We are taking all necessary precautions,” which he said included an evacuation of the Denver office, where dozens of people work.

...and don't forget about the Canadian-Somali in this very same city who was acting alone with a pound of cyanide! Unrelated.
We've already been told that there was no terrorism connection there.

Thanks for the FWIW - I did not know that.
What could a 'suspicious white powder' be?

And this is why McCain wants a Democrat vice-president?

Lidocaine and flour?
Pretty much anything. Salt, sugar, flour, sand, chalk, heroin, cocaine, cyanide, meth...

OK, let me rephrase that:
What kind of *dangerous* powders, that can remain viable in mailed envelopes, survive Post Office irradiation (do they still do that?), and that are also white, are there?
What are they concerned that this may be? Heroin or cocaine, for example, isn't something to be worried about. Cyanide, yes.
