I think these ads were already in the can, just waiting for the “GO” code. Obama just gave that to McCain, and now the counter-punch will hopefully be the knockout blow.

McCain may own 1000 homes; so what? There’s no showing he got any of them illegally or as a result of shady political deals. Obama is vulnerable here. I’m scratching my head. Could he really be that stupid to not see this response from McCain? What strategy is being pursued by his campaign?

In Chicago, they just don’t see a problem with Rezko. Hence the blind spot which led them to attack on the “home front.”

Remember, during the ‘00 election fiasco, they sent William Daley to Florida to “ensure the integrity of the results.”

D’oh.

Liberals commonly make the mistake of acting as if the average person is a stick-figure, not really responsive to threats, who will stand there and take it. You see it all the time with their confiscatory tax schemes. When the intended victims reorganize their finances and financial activities to protect themselves in response to some new tax law, the liberals are always caught by surprise.

McCain's response to the original question was the most correct, reasonable one he could give, referring the reporters to his staff for the details. Cindy is a lot wealthier than he and apparently owns a number of condos, possibly under various arrangements, maybe including partnerships or LLCs. If McCain had tried to give a simple answer to what's really a fairly complex legal question, including the issue of "ownership," he was almost sure to get some details wrong and be accused of lying. Hence, the referral to staff people who could give an accurate answer was the right thing to do.

Obama's team is using the Open-Mouth-Insert-Foot Strategy.
