McCain Prepares Rezko Ad; Wright "Now Fair Game"; GOP 527 Attacks
The Atlantic ^ | Thursday, August 21, 2008 | Marc Ambinder

Sen. John McCain's campaign is finishing a hard-hitting television ad highlighting Barack Obama 's ties to shady Chicago land dealer Tony Rezko, the one-time Obama patron who was convicted earlier this summer of fraud.

A campaign official said that the decision to Go Rezko was Obama's. "He's opened the door to this," the official said.

The ad will be released to network news divisions in time for their broadcasts tonight.

Though McCain is widely perceived to to drawn first blood by attacking Obama's character, the official said that the difference between Obama's mocking McCain for his wealth and his shaky answer on the number of homes he owns was that McCain's charge "reflects an existential reality," where Obama's charges "attack Cindy. She owns the homes. I thought he said the wives were off-limits."

McCain strategists hope that Obama's brass knuckles punch doesn't work. "Americans don't like this class warfare stuff," the official said. They aspire to be rich, the official said. They don't aspire to eat arugala or hang out with celebrities.

Earlier in the news cycle, McCain's press team invoked Obama's friendship with a former member of the Weatherman, William Ayres, and an official said that even Obama's former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, "is now fair game." The official declined to say whether the campaign was contemplating running an advertisement linking Obama to Wright.

I don’t disagree. Something besides the nomination scenario would have to happen to make the split permanent, but I don’t think they would go back to the Democrats in time for this election. Many would either cast protest votes or, more likely, stay home. And that is maybe the biggest (not the only) reason that there is no way they will nominate anybody but Obama next week.

They should show a newborn baby lying on a cold stainless steel medical table and then have a voice say “Obama voted to let surviving aborted babies die on the medical table”. “Obama has associated and had mentors who are the most radical liberal Marxists in American, including Ayers and his pastor (and run clips of his pastor daming America).” “Obama is too extreme for American”.
*******************************************************
It should also say in the ad that a large number of these babies are perfect in every way , just induced prematurely... Obama has talked his way into a situation he cannot escape from .. his best option is to completely ignore it and hope the subject dies ,, just like the babies on the table... it won’t work ,, most people still have a conscience.

McCain may own 1000 homes; so what? There’s no showing he got any of them illegally or as a result of shady political deals. Obama is vulnerable here. I’m scratching my head. Could he really be that stupid to not see this response from McCain? What strategy is being pursued by his campaign?

McCain's response to the original question was the most correct, reasonable one he could give, referring the reporters to his staff for the details. Cindy is a lot wealthier than he and apparently owns a number of condos, possibly under various arrangements, maybe including partnerships or LLCs. If McCain had tried to give a simple answer to what's really a fairly complex legal question, including the issue of "ownership," he was almost sure to get some details wrong and be accused of lying. Hence, the referral to staff people who could give an accurate answer was the right thing to do.

I agree. Blacks would definitely stay home this election cycle. The dems could never win without the blacks. They can’t win with this black. So, unless McCain makes a huge mistake, he should win easily.

>>>Sen. John McCain’s campaign is finishing a hard-hitting television ad highlighting Barack Obama ‘s ties to shady Chicago land dealer Tony Rezko, the one-time Obama patron who was convicted earlier this summer of fraud.

Why is simply stating objective facts always considered by the Left as somehow unfair (here its called “hard-hitting”, as if he should not have been hit soooo hard)

>>>A campaign official said that the decision to Go Rezko was Obama’s. “He’s opened the door to this,” the official said.

Better late than never should be the inside-the-campaign slogan for McCain. Again, why the perception that Obama has to officially “open the door” for McCain to speak the facts about his opponent.

>>>Though McCain is widely perceived to to drawn first blood by attacking Obama’s character,

Leftist rot, again. I thought it was supposed to be about character. Isn’t Barry supposed to represent a new standard in character and ethics, like Nancy Pelosi’s Congress was (hahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahah) Do we ignore character?

>>>the official said that the difference between Obama’s mocking McCain for his wealth and his shaky answer on the number of homes he owns was that McCain’s charge “reflects an existential reality,”

Can’t these people just say that Barry’s a liar? Get off the pot, Maverick, and Speak truth to Liars!

>>>where Obama’s charges “attack s Cindy. She owns the homes. I thought he said the wives were off-limits.”

Get out of the way Barry... Michelle’s goin’ down... unless she can keep her trap shut through the election... but since she’s speaking at the CONvention, that ain’t gonna happen.

>>>McCain strategists hope that Obama’s brass knuckles punch doesn’t work.

That’s the pity, none of the attacks by Obama land anything but powder-puff blows. He’s a wretched wimp.

“Americans don’t like this class warfare stuff,” the official said. They aspire to be rich, the official said.

Again, the lefty media is so divorced with the American Dream and American values, that the simplest principles such as these require attribution.

>>>They don’t aspire to eat arugala or hang out with celebrities.

The precise definition of the Dilitant Dem Obama.

>>>Earlier in the news cycle, McCain’s press team invoked Obama’s friendship with a former member of the Weatherman, William Ayres,

Ohmygosh!!! Say it isn’t so! McCain dared to “invoke” a Democrat candidate for President’s ties to an admitted, unrepentent, and probably still-active terrorist????

>>>and an official said that even Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, “is now fair game.”

Once again: John McCain remains his own worst impediment to winning the White House. He has GOT to be aggressive and hard-hitting to overcome the (unfortunatly) widespread misconception that as President, McCain would be governing posthumously.

>>>The official declined to say whether the campaign was contemplating running an advertisement linking Obama to Wright.

What do they mean “linking”... is there some dispute about this. Does McCain have to “link” Obama to Wright in order to discuss the issue? This is why the MSM is becomming extinct rapidly.

The problem with Rezko ads is that they are “inside baseball”. The American people know nothing about Rezko and are not interested in such either. It will be hard to ezplain Rezko in a 30-second ad.

I recall Robert J. Dole, for whom I voted in 1996 general election but not primary, saying once that the presidency to him was not worth a “negative campaign”. So, he lost to his friend Bill. McPain will have to decide to go negative, or he too will lose.

Good, I was waiting to see who would produce these advertisements. Like the Swift Boat folks, contributing to these people is FAR more effective then sending money to the RNC. A few bucks for Hunter in San Diego and perhaps the senate race in Colorado and I’ll be spent for this cycle.

Obama's team is using the Open-Mouth-Insert-Foot Strategy.

The RNC , the varied 527’s, ought to go after the Messaih on two things he blurted out today: his defense of not going with the defense of unborns, and his horrid understanding and blathering about the infrastructure of China being BETTER THAN AMERICA’S.
