The Chinese army fired on the crowd Monday in Tibet, perhaps 140 killed

PARIS - The Dalai Lama accused the Chinese army to have "fired on the crowd" on August 18 in the region of Kham in eastern Tibet, and put the figure, which "needs to be confirmed," 140 Tibetans killed, in an interview with the french daily Le Monde dated Friday.

As a journalist who asked if the "repression in Tibet had continued despite the Olympic Truce", the Dalai Lama replied that "the Chinese army has yet fired on the crowd, Monday, August 18, in the region of Kham, in the east of Tibet ".

"One hundred and forty Tibetans have been killed, but this figure needs to be confirmed," said the Tibetan spiritual leader, with a pastoral visit to France.

Perfect timing - right in the middle of the Olympics. Where are the DU'ers and the DailyKos'ers screaming "Kent State"? When will Neil Young write a song about this?

It's hoping against hope, but maybe stuff like this makes the morons mentioned above realize how great they have it in this so called "Bush/Cheney dictatorship" they loathe so much.

From our correspondant in Bejing. "And in shock news from the Olympics the host country got a clean sweep in the 'Political oppression: mass slaughter' category. That's a Gold, Silver and Bronze for China in the mass slaughter. And they must really fancy their chances in Political oppression: gagging the opposition tomorrow. The last time China got a clean sweep was "

Now just a damned minute here!

You all are so quick to condemn the Chinese Communists who, after all, supply us with tons and tons of merchandise we buy from the big box stores.

The Chinese have been misunderstood on this one. What they were doing was developing a new Olympic sport: seeing how many innocents you can shoot within a short period of time.
