Let me extend your line of reasoning a little further.
Panama (the birthplace of McCain) used to be part of Colombia...
Plus the fact that Colombia is a major US Ally. I expect something to happen in South America.
Unlike all the other countries mentioned, the US has the absolute right to intervene military at any time for pretty much any reason they say is a threat to the canal. They need no permission (they even invaded and deposed a government based on this clause).
Also, IIRC Panama was only briefly part of colombia, it was previous associated with central american states. I may be wrong about this.
