Cross us and we will crush you, warns Medvedev

President Medvedev of Russia yesterday promised a “shattering blow” against any foreign power that moved against Russian citizens.

The threat will compound the fears of former Soviet states, which are concerned that they could be next after Russia’s attack on Georgia.

“If someone thinks they can kill our citizens, kill soldiers and officers fulfilling the role of peacekeepers, we will never allow this,” Mr Medvedev told a group of Second World War veterans in Kursk. “Anyone who tries to do this will receive a shattering blow.”

He continued: “Russia has the capabilities - economic, political and military. Nobody has any illusions left about that.”

Russia’s incursion into Georgia, and its reluctance to leave, has alarmed former Soviet states such as Ukraine and the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The war was designed in part to send a message to the former Soviet states that “you can’t solve your problems by running to give the West a hug”, Liliya Shevtsova, an analyst at the Carnegie Centre in Moscow, said.

At the start of the war, Mr Medvedev said it was his constitutional right to defend the “lives and dignity” of Russian citizens. Georgia’s allies now fear that Russia will begin to throw its weight around in defence of the millions of ethnic Russians who live outside the motherland.

The break-up of the Soviet Union left a huge Russian diaspora outside the country. There are more than 8 million ethnic Russians in Ukraine, 4.5 million in Kazakhstan and 1.2 million in the Baltic states.

Russia justified its attack on Georgia by insisting that it was acting to protect the 90 per cent of South Ossetians who have Russian passports.

In those days, the KGB served the Party. Today, the renamed FSB - the "siloviki" - run the country and are effectively a law unto themselves, answerable to no one.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

Whatta load!

They are doing the Islamic dictator dance by making enemy's to justify what the government is about to do to it's people and it's economic vitality, not to mention curtailment of all freedoms once enjoyed.<>This way, the people think the fault lies with the nasty old enemy and not with the government.

The Islamics learned how to do this from the likes of Stalin and Hitler. Now the art returns to Russia. How quaint.

Nuke em . Nuke em now .

Back in the early 1950's, Kate Smith had a TV show, "The Kate Smith Hour," which had a segment dubbed "The Cracker Barrel," where they discussed current events. I recall distinctly one such show during which they had a serious debate on whether or not to nuke the Soviet Union. I often think back on that discussion, and on how much angst the world would have been spared had we indeed nuked them at the time.

So, we won The Cold War by defeating the Commies. All the poor USSR beg for western democracy.

Clinton kicks out Yeltsin puts in Putin.

We also won WWII by defeating the Nazis. Poor Axis nations beg for western democracy.

Putin KGB/FSB running Russia is like Germany being run by the Gestapo after WWII.

Where have I heard THAT kind of talk before.....??

Any typical emissary of the Golden Horde. Or Perhaps the Persian emissary in the movie 300. 'Our arrows will block out the sun'.

I believe Putin must be very good at controlling the expression in his eyes. He was able to fool President Bush when he looked into Putin’s eyes. I am sure he could fool Obama at least as well. I hope McCain will be able to resist Putin’s charms.

The answer, of course, is take out Russia now. We will have to do it sooner or later. Let’s do it Now, before they become any stronger and when it will do the most good for McCain and the Republican Party.

General G. Patton saw them then for what they are today and wanted to keep rolling and take them out. The president got all PO'd and censured him, in addition to nixing his plan.

Had they saw what Patton saw, we never would have had the cold war or any of it.

Mr Medvedev told a group of Second World War veterans in Kursk. “Anyone who tries to do this will receive a shattering blow.”

Do leaders of real nations (not the third world, tin-horn dictator types) really speak to other nations this way? Does Mr. Medvedev expect to be taken seriously? How can liberals see how this man talks to others, then turn around and say President Bush is dangerous and stupid?

“President Medvedev of Russia yesterday promised a “shattering blow” against any foreign power that moved against Russian citizens.”

I bet he's gay. Maybe he and Putin have a thing going on, after all, they are never seen with women. I bet he meant Russian males in his statement, not citizens.

He and Putin are definitely gay; anyone out there have some gay friends we can fix these two up with? It may help decrease tensions. Just a thought!

Because they are being offered one of two differently colored pills. One pill will wake them into reality which has become a very nasty place. Journalist assassinations, poisonings, threats to use nuclear weapons, the rape and pillage of a western country, etc. etc.. The other pill will keep them asleep in a land where ignorance is bliss.

Some people choose the wrong pill.

Russia wants to pass out passports like candy? I say we help them. I think that large quantities should be passed out to radical Chetznian’s.

All, keep on thing in mind - Russians yield to brutal force only... and it does not take that much to care them to death! We have lived with these alchololics and KGB agents for way to long to know. 20K Chechens kicked the shit out of entire Russian military during two wars and were holding Grozni for months despite fierce attached by Putin lead 58th army in the third wave. My father was in Russian army and about 10 dudes kicked the shit out of entire regiment (I am talking battalion, 400 strong) and no one could do anything about them until they simply send all 10 of them to other different regiments stationed elsewhere. All of this is complete BS and they keep talking like that only to justify their actions in front of their own constituency. They would have never dared entering Georgia had Georgia be given MAP in Bucharest this April; when Germany resisted, we all said here: Russia has been given cart Blanche to eliminate Georgia until December... and that's what they started doing.
