Mike Huckabee on Tuesday said he has not been approached by John McCain about being the U.S. presidential candidate's running mate. But he'd certainly consider the offer.
Huckabee said he didn't think anyone who has run for the U.S. presidency would turn down a chance to be vice president. The former Arkansas governor dropped out of the presidential race last March after McCain clinched the Republican nomination.
Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem, Huckabee said he has received "no indication" that McCain is considering him as a running mate. But if asked, Huckabee said it would be hard to resist.
"I don't think anybody that runs for president turns around and says no," he said. Still, he said he did not consider himself a candidate, adding it would be "disrespectful" to suggest names.
McCain may name his running mate between the end of the Democratic convention on Aug. 28 and the start of the Republican convention on Sept. 1

What? I just posted a straight news story concerning Huckabee. What is desperate about that?
I think she’s saying Huckabee is desperate.
Not you haha.
Upon further review, I get it. You were talking about Huck wanting to be Veep, not me posting the article. Overly sensitive I am.
Hey!
‘Ol Huck needs to keep them childruns in Lardburgers, and Pizzas somehow!
I’m increasingly confident that Romney won’t be nominated. He’ll probably serve on McCain’s cabinet should McCain become President, perhaps Secretary of the Treasury. And don’t worry, it’s increasingly clear that the Tom Ridge speculation was a publicity stunt.
Don Carcieri has a lot of good qualities- conservative, Catholic, ethnic (not sure what ethnicity, I think he’s part Italian), record of winning cross-over votes. I wish McCain had considered him more seriously. You’ve spoken of him highly, as well. There’s still time and hope, IMHO.
I am currently fixated on a much-overlooked part of the electorate. They are moderate independents who voted for Gore and Kerry reluctantly, but cringe at Obama. I’m surprised no one has spoken of this group. Many, though far from all, are Jewish. And I think this group could be swung into the Republican column without McCain or the party moving to the left. McCain’s independent image attracts them, but they’re not sold on him yet, as many of them don’t usually vote Republican. But in addition to being conservative, the running mate should be urban and northern. At least that’s my take. Nothing against Mark Sanford, he’s a great governor, but I believe this small voting bloc will decide the election.
Always a pleasure,
Mike
Whoops, that was supposed to be a private reply.
Oh, well...
Oh do forgive me, dear Plutarch. Yes, the Huckster needs to get a life. ;)
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
STFU, Gomer.
I like Huckabee, but I don’t think it should go to anybody who had been a candidate. The primary was too divided for any of those people - including Huckabee or the ur-liberal Romney - to be a good VP candidate.
It wasn’t directed at you. Huckabee is desperate.
I just love it. These egotistical pandering career politicians are precious. God Bless them. They are fodder for abuse. Endless material.
To be added please FReepmail me or OB1KNOB.
Selecting either would be very divisive. McCain should make a more uniting selection.
Thank you.
And let’s flush the idea of bookend nanny stater Romney while were at it.
I hope he picks Palin, but I bet he picks Huckster.
What the huck?!
