This looks like a set up by the campaign team. They (the same team) did this all the time with Schwarzenegger.
First, they leak to the press the some horrible possibility as being considered by their candidate. Then they play it up in the media and on the internet. By the time everyone’s head has exploded, the candidate then makes a choice only mildly better than the one leaked and the new mantra becomes “Well, it’s better than such-and-such.” All of the sheep let out a big sigh-of-relief, believing they dodged the big one (despite the fact that what they are now being offered was once recently considered unpalatable.)
Everything is relative. So, just remember—if he nominates anyone to the right of Obama, everyone should parade in the streets in celebration! /s

I don’t know how much I can believe this, and I won’t go thru the trouble of reading further or researching the writer’s backgrounds. For several months, Mac has had a better than even chance of trouncing Obambi, if anyone in the media would wake up long enough from their self-indulgent fantasies to look at reality. But if this story is true, he lost it. I guess we’ll know for sure on 8/29.

How do we maintain the notion that a McCain Presidency isn’t just a little bit the lesser of two evils if McCain picks the same liberal for Vice President selected by Al Gore? If John McCain agrees with Al Gore on who should be Vice President, we cannot be sure he wouldn’t agree with Al Gore on who should be Supreme Court Justice, or Attorney General, or EPA director.

Romney, Jindal, Pawlenty, Palin acceptable
Graham, Ridge, Lieberman unacceptable.
My choice would be Ron Santorum, Nichols, Bolton, or Zell
To: GOPGuide
I think this Lieberman talk is a signal that McCain is considering a candidate that will not please the Republican base. If you are considering Ridge, tout Lieberman, so that when Ridge is announced conservatives will say: "Whew, we dodged that Lieberman bullet!" and momentarily forget that Ridge is Pro Choice. So too, if McCain is considering a Romney that will displease some of the base, at least he can say-- "You told me not to pick the Pro=Choice Ridge."

The second to last paragraph is correct in all aspects. Conservatives will “settle” this time. The problem is, it won’t help. Who cares what the VP’s positions are, seriously. Lieberman represents a Pax Judeo-Christiandom that should play well with the electorate. He’s a great champion for keeping our guard up with both arms. He’s an interesting person.

It seems Lindsey Graham gets up every morning and asks himself what he could do today to weaken conservatives and Republicans . Then he does whatever that is.

Not surprising if true. Republicans have to have a “big tent” because conservatives are so narrow minded. Libs don't cause they're open minded. Hope this choice comes soon. I've already sucked it up and sent him money. I need to know if I can stomach the next double cross before I flush any more cash. Bad thing about big tents is they're real tough to get out of when they blow down./p>

Seems someone on the McCain team is talking out their ass “off the record”. Either that or the source is not nearly as high up as they think they are. Total BS

If John McCain believes, as he stated he did on Saturday night, that a human being's rights begin at the moment of conception, then he would either be a hypocrite or a fool to put that human being's rights at risk by choosing a man who strongly believes that another human being (a woman) has some inherent right to destroy that conceived being's rights.
Thomas Jefferson capsulized the principle underlying our liberty:
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them."
To: GOPGuide
I don’t think McCain will pick Lieberman, but he might pick Rooty.
Basically, no difference.

Droves of Freepers, disgusted by such a choice in August and threatening to walk out and not vote or go for electors pledged to an Alternative Conservative on the General Election ballot,, out of fear of Obama. This is what I call moral mission creep. Rationalization allows you to justify any act, based on situation ethics.Freepers, who would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS, even as late as six months ago, imagine themselves wholeheartedly and publicly supporting a McCAIN-PRO ABORT VP TICKET.
Only because they have rationalized thier morals to the point of being RINOS themselves (if they were to support such a ticket).
Doesnt ANYBODY, for Pete's sake, take a stand and draw a line and say "NO, I dont go beyond this"??
I guess only a few. Maybe the sad state of Conservatism these days. With a moral center about has hard as marshmallows.

If McCain picks Lieberman, it proves hes to stupid to be President. He never had the R-base. After the NY Time sleaze-piece on the 9 year old innuendo about the hot lobbyist, he regained a bit of it back, but then he proceeded to squander it with his typical RINO-moderate-maverick crap. He stared gaining with the R-base again by coming around on drilling, an issue that fell in his lap. Then he started gaining in general the more it becomes apparent to the masses that Obama is a clueless fool. Then the Russians act up and he reacts well, gains some more. Then a homerun at Saddlebrook, with Obie looking even more shallow and clueless. If he now goes and pick a democrat for VP, the base definitely turn away for good. What a marooon.
