It's Rudy (more speculation)

So many e-mailers this morning are predicting that the McCain trial balloon is really about Giuliani. I'm not there, but here's one:

I don't think it's being floated for Liebermann or Ridge. I think he's considering Giuliani. - Might put NY in enough play to make Obama spend a lot of money there. - Has name recognition and gets plenty of respect on law enforcement/national security - Might be more palatable to pro-lifers if he were to make clear that it's McCain's pro-life administration The McCain campaign has already hired a Giuliani staffer as the unnamed veep's communications director...

“Giuliani”.

Mayor Baggage?

Between the two of them, there’s bound to be at least one bad temper in the room every minute of the day for their entire term.

I am not worried. There is no real reason to pick Giuliani.

Rudy is a bad choice, just like Lieberman, Ridge and so many others. Gov. Palin is my first choice of all the names I’ve heard thus far, of all the governors and reps and others names..

BTW, there is a reason that he is announcing in Ohio, and I don’t think the reason is because he is going to pick Rudy.

Ohio. John Glenn?

Rudy would help in NJ, CT, PA, NY and FL.

Why?
Rudy tanked early in the Primary. What would he bring to McCain’s campaign?

Wow, that would be a fantastic choice, Sister_T!

I was thinking, “he can’t be choosing crying George Voinovich, it has to be Boomer Esiason”.

LOL

I like your answer better.

[no disrepect intended toward Boomer]

“there is a reason that he is announcing in Ohio”

That makes me think it’s either John Boehner (I called this MOTH’s AGO, if true), or it could even be MIKE PENCE???

Pence would make tons of sense...

“Rudy might be the only “pro-choice” veep pick that wouldn’t cause me to not vote against Obama with a McCain vote”

I'd be tempted to vote with Rudy on the ticket too. He claims to be a strict constructionist. But darnit! It's impossible for a strict constructionist to agree with Roe v Wade:

If it is him, it's going to be hell for us to unite. Perhaps if Rudy could at least express some logical view about that particular [illogical] trial, as well as Kelo-- then we have something to build on.

Was Gov Palin’s last child diagnosed with downs syndrome or something like that and that didn’t bother her at all. She had the child anyways. That’s a powerful pro-life story to tell.

Sit home on your rear and let Obama win, and you bear part of the blame for the damage he does.

I'm voting for McCain solely on the basis of his expected Supreme Court picks. His VP pick will point in the direction of those SC picks. Ergo, a pro-choice VP pick will signal pro-choice SC picks. Ergo, McCain's damage = Obama's damage.

So which of the VP names is associated with Ohio? Portman's name was mentioned early on. I've never heard Blackwell's name mentioned, but that would be a very interesting choice!
