I sent another email:
Well, now the word seems to be out with the names Carly Fiorina and Steve Schmidt involved making calls to delegates, that Joseph Lieberman may be the pick for VP.
You people really know how to screw up an election. If you don't want to win, go for it. After making a commitment at Saddlebrook that his administration would be solidly pro-life, it seems McCain is prepared only days later to dishonor his word.
So much for the "Straight Talk Express". So much for McCain's honesty. So much for McCain's chances of winning with such a move. NOT!
You people are really fools if this is true.
I can't believe they'd be this dumb. Well, maybe I can.
Sean Hannity covering this today - big time. Mark Levin even called in to talk about it.
“Sean Hannity Show Sean Hannity 1-800-941-7326 M-F, 3pm - 6pm ET”
So far people calling in saying they like Gov. Palin and Romney. I LOVE Gov. Palin, but there’s a bit of controversy about her trying to fire a state trooper, and she will come out of it just fine, but controversy at this point in time will probably stop her from being picked.
Romney is passable, imo, but not my favorite, because his universal health care plan in MA allowed money for abortions, and he wants a partnership with Red China, even though we already have an approximately $275 BILLION trade imbalance with Red China. What more does Romney want with China?
As I said on another thread Mark Sanford, Bobby Jindal, Rep. Eric Cantor, Rob Portman, Rep. John Kasich for VP would be great pro-lifers, and conservative in many other ways, as well, but Duncan Hunter would be my favorite (and might help McCain in California). I guess McCain picking Hunter might be too much to hope for, though.
I just heard on Hannity’s that the RNC said that a pro-”choice” running mate will not be picked by Senator McCain.
Our voices have been heard!!!!
Now let’s give the McCain camp some names of STRONG pro-life, conservatives, and here’s McCain contact info.:
John McCain 703-418-2008 and e-mail jpblack@mccain08hq.com and http://www.johnmccain.com/Contact/
Here you go, but don’t stop calling.

Keep brining the heat. Today’s announcement from the RNC shows they are hearing you in DC.
I already sent them a follow-up email about the GOP announcement. I asked what we’re to believe when we’re told the McCain camp has apparently trolled a pro-choice VP even before the Saddleback forum, and then tells us his administration will be strongly pro-life.
He’s gotten the word? Really? Or is he just bowing to pressure? Really? Seems to me he told us awhile back he’d gotten the work about Amnesty only to throw it back in our face. Why should I believe him now?
I just might make a phone call, too. I’m really getting jazzed up on this. It makes my blood boil thinking we may have been lied to. But, I can’t say that for sure until I know exactly who he picks. Elsewhere it’s being said this may be a plan to make us think one thing, then he comes in with a marginally better candidate so we can say “whew, we dodged that bullet” when the choice he does make isn’t really pro-life either.
Now that would really do it for me.
BTT
I just placed a call to the McCain campaign. The place is shut up tight for the evening apparently. I received a message there’s no one available to take my call.
Always tomorrow :-)
Considering McCain’s stance is less than conservative, I hardly think he’s foolish enough to pick a Pro-Choice VP, and risk the election.
Part of me is starting to really believe this is all to get our side active. Right now we are active trying to influence McCain, but imagine if he comes out in the next week and chooses a very strong, Conservative VP choice. It is like how NASA uses the sun to slingshot probes, you shoot something toward the sun to gain momentum and aim it toward your target. We may be shooting at the sun now, but we are gaining momentum to attack the real opposition.
mcshamnsty could give 2 f*arts about Free Republic AND/OR CONSERVATISM.
This will just be an entree of the main dinner to come, for which many McCain backers dont even have a PLAN B. All they can think about is avoiding the big bad wolf Obama, but what happens when the panther then comes over and sinks its big teeth into conservatives' bones to the marrow.
Oh well, it will at least feeeeeeel a bit better than if Jug Ears is doing it, I s'pose.
thread bump
Judging by the fact this seems to have been going on for awhile (the calls to delegates), I have my doubts about that. I think McCain WAS floating the idea of a pro-choice running mate, but came face-to-face with a wall of opposition. His remarks at Saddleback reflected his realization it wouldn't fly.
What we locked on to was an article on NR that made the calls public knowledge after the fact. The event was really over but we brought new life to it. As did Rush in his broadcast yesterday. Methinks the McCain campaign met a second brick wall yesterday...
IMO, what we need to do now is look seriously at those lesser known VP options such as Meg Whitman (not Christine Todd Whitman, folks) and determine exactly what her opinion on abortion and life choices are. We need to be prepared once the announcement is made.
How many slates of electors will be on the ballot in your particular state in November? You don’t need to mention a specific state by name if you dont want to, but just wondering how many slates of Electors for President/Vice President you have. It sounds like you only have two, but I dont know of any states that fit that description. I believe in my case there will be somewhere along the lines of five to six slates of electors.
Not sure what you are getting at, but we have 34 electors.
I see no benefit at all to a Pro-Life LIEberman being Veep either.
I don’t see this as all that important to get worked up about.
Update and bump

Lieberman isn’t pro-life.
