Sign Kyoto – fund a war
Mark Henderson
August 11 2008

New Zealanders are starting to get nervous about what might happen to the money they are paying the Russians for failing to meet their Kyoto targets.

As reported in our feature on New Zealand and Kyoto, the poor kiwis are paying the Russians 4.1 billion dollars by 2012 to purchase carbon credits to offset the increase in CO2 emissions beyond mandated Kyoto targets.

Kiwiblog is reporting that there is no mechanism for New Zealand to avoid handing over this money even if it is used to fund the war against Georgia.

If Australia fails to meet Kyoto targets and has to buy carbon credits from Russia, they same thing would happen.

Little New Zealand sending BILLIONS of dollars to gigantic Russia..... for WHAT, exactly? Just so socialist weasels can feel good about themselves?!? What an idiotic treaty.

Why would a country sign that treaty? Abrogate that s**t.

genius, huh?

Russia doesn’t even have to abide by Kyoto and yet they still get paid for it!

Can’t somebody be paying Americans for driving less??? We’re already do it so it would be nice if some guilt-ridden country could pay us for it as well.

McCain saw the light on drilling once it became an obvious national security issue. Perhaps the same thing could be done with the global warming nonsense. Not only is it not true, but it could destroy the economy and weaken America while places like Russia would just sit back and laugh.

Do you honestly think that, if it were the other way around, Russia would pay a single cent of “carbon credits”?

What happens if they refuse to pay? Russia will sue them in the "world court"?

Defy us and we will crush you... Russia's warning

“Do you honestly think that, if it were the other way around, Russia would pay a single cent of “carbon credits”?”

The only reason russia signed on to kyoto in the first place is because they knew they were going to make a killing.
