Jim Martin, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate after defeating Vernon Jones in a run-off primary election earlier this month, is now trailing incumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss by just six percentage points. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Peach State finds the incumbent ahead of his challenger 48% to 43%.
When leaners are included, Chambliss leads 50% to 44%.
Though the latest numbers could represent a temporary primary glow for Martin, the poll marks the lowest level of support for the incumbent since tracking of this years election began.

This is a bad sign. Chambliss’s equivicating on illegal aliens earlier this year didn’t help matters.
Becoming one of the “gang of ten” has not helped him either.
Taxme Shameless is NOT getting my vote. I hope the spineless wonder loses is a$$ come Novemeber.
This dumb Chambliss has NO clue to why he could get beat. What do you think the average IQ is of these senators?
The numbers don’t add up. How can someone’s percentages go down when leaners are added in?
Guys, we still gotta support Chambliss. Politely let him know he’s wrong on the Gang of 10 and amnesty, but don’t threaten to not vote for him. Then he’ll have nothing to lose and really become a RINO.
I hope Martin beats his worthless a$$ like a drum! Chambliss is an idiot and a liability to the party.
There are indications that Chambliss is coming around. The guy didn't call-in to Rush's show for feces and giggles. He heard loud and clear from the base, that they are unhappy with this ridiculous Gang of 10 crap. Even at the end of the discussion, Chambliss knew he was talking out of his ass and quietly realized he was in the wrong.
Since no vote has taken place yet, it's better to try and knock some sense into Chambliss (and the other 5 Republicans) rather than whining.
We are in the minority anyways....purge the losers now
Sending ourselves to 40 seats or less is foolish.
The Dems chose wisely with their nominee (had it been Vernon Jones, the national party could’ve written off this race). If Chambliss loses, he’ll have nobody to blame but himself and his stupidity. Such a shame for a man who arrived with such a bang 6 years ago in deposing the embarrassingly awful Carterite, Max Cleland. Between the shamnesty and this current crap, you’d have sworn Cleland never left office.
Yep. I went ballistic on him for the amnesty debacle,(And his office out and out lied to me about that situation.) and when he did THIS, I called his office and told them that since Chambliss votes like a Dem, I might as well vote for the real thing.
Whining? No, it's better to throw these idiots out just as soon as we possibly can. Why vote for any of them? They're not reliable and have shown their ignorance.
I heard Chambliss on Rush, and I certainly didn't sense him realizing anything. I just heard an arrogant a-hole arguing with Rush and spouting about "bipartisanship" and "getting something done.
Throw him out and let someone else have a go at it. A rat couldn't do any worse, and when they fail, it'll be a rat failure.
Making ourselves remain enslaved to foreign oil, because it helps us win leftist friends is a total waste of time.
Man don’t you wish you were in the majority with guys like voinovich, chafee, snowe, collins, yeah...I’d love to be able to count on solid GOP votes like that...puhleez.
Rush put the ugly on Chambliss...Chambliss sounded desperate to be liked by Biden and Co....
Thats all? This guy has pissed on conservatives the last time.He should be running away with this.
Really? Thats worked so well so far right? We need to kick this $hitbird to the curb.
This lowest level of support is because Chambliss wimped out on us and threw in with the gang of 10. He has become a backstabbing RINO.
