“There are some still talking McCain down. Its a powerful team and one the DEMS are afraid of.”

Look Lady, if you want to be one of Governor Romney’s mormon wives, go after that....but stop trying to foist this fool on the GOP. Senator McCain did very well Saturday evening, and he would be extremely obtuse to blow it now by picking a (1)ProChoicer, (2)A Mormon cutlist, or someone with elements of both.

I’m NOT advocating Huckbee, because he carries to much negative baggage, but there are others like Thompson or Hunter that could be persuaded to run. Romney is an empty mormon suit and an advowed waffler....consistent with the “mormon” prophets new prophecies whenever politically expedient.

Nice try, but Romney didn’t leave Mass in ruins. His successor has screwed things up now. The libs tried to blame this on Romney.

I’m not excited about Mormanism either, but you need to note that Orrin Hatch is a Mormon and a fine conservative senator.

Enough about Mormanism and falsehoods about his past. Remember Reagan was Pro-choice before Pro-life. Romney was too. That doesn’t make him unfit for command or ideologically adrift.

Mitt is no Nixon. Rather, he’s the next Reagan. You just don’t know it yet...

Mitt Romney, a man who demonstrated in his four years as governor that he either doesn’t understand the Constitution and separation of powers, or doesn’t care. The mercenary conservative elites eagerly vouch for Romney's bald-faced lie: "Every bill that crossed my desk I came down on the side of life." Photos of Romney signing – after his "conversion" -- reveal a satisfied Ted Kennedy and the leering godfathers of the corrupt, communist-Democrat mafia of Massachusetts looking on, drooling with delight. But, lo, 'tis true, not over Mitt Romney's desk. Not even in his office, but in historic Faneuil Hall under the gaze of Founding Fathers. As with France's surrender to the Nazis, pragmatism's surrenders to evil must be celebrated in historic settings. So there you have it. That most aggressive pro-abortion bill, perhaps, in American history, never actually "crossed Romney's desk." It was not in Romney's office and it was not his desk.

Those leaders are right on the money. NO MITT! No liberal pretenders to the thrown who couldn’t win with a head start and more money than God. Most certainly not Mitt and his horrible economic record in Massachusetts. He didn’t govern conservatively and he helped implement a Health Care disaster that not only has made Massachusetts financial situation worse but also increased the number of required state funded abortions. McCain should pick someone who is conservative and has never been anything but. Mitt ran to the left of Ted Kennedy and it takes more than a wink and nod promise and his chiseled good looks to make it otherwise.

Duncan Hunter would come close but he’s not on the list

I like Duncan Hunter too, but he doesn't have much name recognition outside of FreeRepublic. It's too bad that the most conservative of the Republican candidates couldn't get more traction in the primaries.

How about Haley Barbour, governor of Mississippi? Conservative. Good record. Great leadership skills.

Eric Cantor has American Conservative Union rating of 97 percent. Do we want a real Conservative on the ticket or not? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2057438/posts

I never said anything about Mormonism. Get real.

Mitts never going to be a Reagan. Reagan was working class, union member then head when the Actors union and many other unions were fighting communism. Reagan was a free marketeer, and would of never shoved Romneycare down citizens throats as his signature ‘accomplishment’. These are life education that Mitt never had and would avoid if he did have a chance. Whit Mittbots it's always some elses fault when Mitt gets snookered by Democrats. The rest of us call it political kindergarden.

Deval didn't screw up Mass. That is its constant condition. That is why it would make it so fun to be a conservative Governor in this target rich state. Something Mitt couldn't hit a liberal barn door if you held him against it.

Mitt doesn't and never will have the street, gut instincts to be a Reagan. Mitt's too much of an accomidationist.

Mitt is very much more Nixon. Tension, waffle, liberal, somewhat distant.

You come across as some far right whack job. And unfortunataly the far right is as bad as the far left. People like you are the reason people dislike Conservatives. And as far as being one of Romney's wives, Im somewhat busy being married to my current and raising my own family.

So, do you think those conservatives-acting-as-’nauty’-trolls are afraid of Mitt, or can it be possible that we are not trolls, and are not sold on the idea that Mitt’s the new conservative hope for the party, and are using our right of free speech to say so here on FR?

I wasn't much of a Romulan fan when he was running in the primary but I believe that he'd make a darn good VP--and possible successor to McCain. My one drawback with Mitt was his lack of military service not his lack of brains or appeal.

I think Romney would be able to out-debate Joe Biden in that match-up.

I’m sick to my soul of your “Romnism” (a combination of Mormonphilia and Romney worship) and that of those of your ilk - been listenig to your nonsense since before the primaries. The man is unacceptable to a very large group of the conservative base (both because of his Mormonisn and his waffling on issues). If Senator McCain picks Mitt the Mormon, he is killing any traction he gained at Saddleback. That is just fact....it isn’t a “far right wing” rant. Of course, if Senator McCain picks a pro-choicer, he has blown it also.

Yes, from Utah, as only a SENATOR, where it is appropriate to be a Mormon. NEVER as POTUS.

I will vote for McCain even IF he picks Mitt as his running mate, but less happily so, as I’m still not convinced that he’s not all hat and no cattle.

I just get tired of my comments here and my being against Mitt making people label me as a troll.

Every aspect of Mormonism that seems weird to the rest of the country would be kept in the forefront — one new controversy per week. We just don’t need that.

Somehow I just can't see undecideds who lean left voting against a man because he is a Mormon any more that I can see undecideds who lean to the right voting against a man because he's black. The Mormon thing is way overrated.
