State science standards in election spotlight (ID/Creation Kansans need to vote!)
The Wichita Eagle ^ | August 1, 2008 | LORI YOUNT

With five seats on the State Board of Education up for grabs this year, education advocates say how children learn about evolution hangs in the balance -- and who voters choose could affect Kansas' national reputation.

A frequent flip-flop between moderate and conservative majorities on the 10-member board has resulted in the state changing its science standards four times in the past eight years.

Conservatives have pushed for standards casting doubt on evolution, and moderates have said intelligent design does not belong in the science classroom.

In 2007, a new 6-4 moderate majority removed standards that called evolution into question.

This year, none of the three moderates whose seats are up for election are running again. Only one of the two conservative incumbents is running for re-election...

Metmom...those kinds of questions must be studiously avoided by Darwinists, otherwise they may start doubt.

==Can you provide a source for that showing some analysis of those cores that supports a YEC theory?

Here’s a great article, written for the layman, summarizing the evidence in favor of YEC right here:

In case you haven’t noticed, string theory isn’t accepted as even a theory, since no one can say how it can be tested.

And string theory is called a *theory* for what reason again?

It has the status of a conjecture.

And just whose *side* is the one proposing this non-theory?

Well, I’ll let the two institutions of higher learning from which I obtained my degrees, as well as my present and past employers in the pharmaceutical industry, argue that point with you.

String “theory” is one of those controversies in science that can’t happen because science doesn’t allow challenges to authority.

Can you provide a source for that showing some analysis of those cores that supports a YEC theory?

IIRC, DLR posted a thread some time ago about ice core dating. I don't recall when that was, only that it addressed the question you have.

Perhaps he could find it.

It appears to be a litany of all the things that might be wrong with someone else's research.

I don't see any positive evidence is support of YEC theory or any kind of analysis of those ice cores that verifies or supports the 6-10k year hypothesis.

If it’s the one I just read, it’s simply more tearing down of other people’s research, apparently with the idea that if they can find something wrong with everyeone else’s theories YEC wins by default.

entient beings who are sentient by some sort of random mutation process that accidentally adds information to the genome that in some way is beneficial enough to make the organism survive better than its competitors (others of the same species), yet for some reason develops a common set of values that just happen to line up with the last 6 commandments of a religion that such a theory is said to debunk,

Those sentient beings WROTE those six commandments!

Then by all means, leave the party. No wonder we keep getting saddled with RINOs like McCain.

If all of us who believe that evolution should be taught as science left the GOP, then Republicans might get as many votes as Ralph Nader.

Sorry, you didn’t take nearly enough time to read the whole thing and digest all the arguments. Kinda lazy.
